Hi, Talaria!

Seems like your sketchbook thread is off to a great (and quite productive) start! ^^ For some reason that sea snake really caught my eye - it looks quite fierce. o_O
In any case, I’m subscribing to this, so I’ll be back! Keep posting!

Rebeccak, thanks  .
Well I live in South America and I just finished High school and I’m entering the University on September ( I’m not going to study art though, I’m going to study chemical eingeneering (spelling?) )
And for art training, I never had any D: I’m self taught all I know is for looking at this type of sites. I started drawing only anime/manga ( I was a crazy Naruto fan o_O btw)and over a year ago my aunt gave as a gift a book of Portraits (It had the evolution of the portrait and lots of paintings done by the famous artists) and I said to myself ‘I want to do that!’ So here I am trying :). As for digital art, well I never had any art class so buying oils will be kind of like a waste of money  because I don’t know how to paint with them, I could learn by myself of course, but I think it will be better with a teacher  (yes, I do plan on taking art classes in the future) Digital art is very hard too, but let’s say it’s less messy
I came to the anatomy forum because for me anatomy it’s the most important thing to learn, It’s the base of every drawing (unless there are no humans or creatures in it).

Once again thanks for the welcome

Vilhelmina, I’m happy that you liked my sea serpent, I used the ‘knowledge’ learned in the copy of horses sketches from da Vinci to do its fierce face. Thanks for subscribing :D.

SpiritDreamer, thank you so much for your post, it means a lot to me that you mentioned composing

Well here are other drawings:

A copy of Michelangelo’s Cleopatra

A copy of one of the angels of an unfinished painting of Michelangelo (Madona de Manchester)

Hello Talaria,

thank you for your kind words. Looking at your master studies, I’m nearly starting to blush to read compliments from talented people like you :), because I still have soooo much to learn.

I hope you’ll have a great time here… it’s one of the greatest places on the web
you’re off to a good start getting yourself some fans with such nice drawings that’s for sure :wavey:

Nr43, No problem that gimnast was awesome O:. Thank you so much for your words I really apreciate them TuT. I also have a lot to learn so you’re not alone :P.

well more drawings:

The greek god Hermes

Hermes again (this one looks much better, I believe)

The greek god Eros

No famous-people-drawing/painting-copys today

#11

The second Hermes drawing is more dynamic, I believe, but I personally prefer the first one. I really like that pose. The one of Eros is interesting, because it has that element of mystery… Like… Who’s he aiming at?

#12

Vilhelmina, heh I also like his pose too bad it doesnt look so good :/. I’m glad you liked my eros

A copy of Hermes from the painting The Education of Cupid by Correggio.
(I didn’t do cupid because babys with wings tend to creep me out o_O)
It’s not finished yet but considering my experience with photoshop I think it’s looking very good

A close up of his torso

I didn’t use the color picker because I’m trying to practice skin tones, :stuck_out_tongue:

#13

Hi…Talaria…

Three more nice drawings…GREAT…top one is my favorite of the three…like the silver gray
background…adds beauty, and a sinse of atmosphere to the drawing…
I think that you should creat a drawing, like that dragon and ship one posted above…part master copy, and part from your own imagination…a combination of both, morphed into one
really nice drawing. I like the way you explaned the way you got the fierce look in the dragon face, by studying DaVinci faces.
Wouldn’t mind seeing you creat a drawing for the OFDW # 19…THE AWAKENING GIANT…THEME,…Using that same method you used with the dragon and ship drawing, of picking elements from an old master that fit, and applying them in your own drawing.
A fine drawing, done in that method, is just as good and sometimes even better, than a finished painting, that doesn’t use that method…check out that OFDW #19…i think you
would enjoy it, and learn a great deal, at the same time…it just started, and has a whole month to go…just post your drawing in there, and you will see and learn, how to take it further…I just posted my idea for the giant concept in there myself, and would be more than happy to help you out along the way, if you post your idea in there…so will everyone else I am sure…hope to see you there…
Just saw the painting…glad you decided to not use the color picker…just cheat yourself that way…

Spiritdreamer, well I’ll enter  In fact I already posted my underground giant. Thanks for letting me know about the workshop

Well here are more drawings, no mastercopys today

Eros (yes, I’m obssesed)

A triton

The same triton( fighting against a fisherman who wanted to…fish him)

A water giant waking from the deep of the seas.
This one WAS going to be for the 19 workshop until I read underGROUND T-T

And this is my entry (currently) for the workshop, a titan waking from the underworld.

#15

the Hermes copy again:

the zoom in

#16

Hi…Talaria…:applause:
Knew you had a good imagination…
I really like the first Titan…The one with his hand coming right out of the bottom of the picture plane…whole figure really poppes out at the viewer…maybe just a little more space on the sides of the picture plane to get his elbow, and other hand…Would be a really strong composition, with very deep forshortening of the figure…NICE… …Mabe have him stareing at a very small city or something in that bottom corner, to give him scale.
This view, would really give you a chance to work on expression and detail in his face, hands,
arms, back, and shoulders…could end up with a very powerful piece, if you use bits and pieces
from the masters. as your references , and means of study, to refine this figure…if you decide to go with this one… that is …
Also think you are starting to get a really nice sense of form and volume, in that last painting of yours…really starting to shape up nicely…
Can’ wait to see your progress…

#17

Well I’m happy that you liked my titan  but I think I’m going with other drawing,

I like this one more because I like his pose more, I feel like it has more expression though I’m still not sure  if I’m staying with this one…

the hermes copy of ‘the education of cupid’ by Correggio, just the face this time

ohhh i think I’m getting the hang of digital painting TuT I like how it’s looking so far

#18

Hey Mariana,

I really like your giant sketches, especially the last one. Not sure what your plan is but maybe making the giant a bit more “massive”, showing more power will make it even more dynamic I think. The pose is lovely. It awakes my own imagination…
Looking forward to see an update!

#19

wow, Talaria, the foreshortened hand pose on your giant sketch is wonderful.

Did you ref that? If it is from imagination I will not post in your thread for some time as I will have to recover first…

Very nice sketches Talaria. Your Hermes wip is looking great.
I like your giant sketch, waiting to see hoe it turns out.
cheers
