shahabp,

Welcome aboard! Great to see your thread here. If you could tell us a bit about your background and training, it would be a nice way to introduce yourself to the community here.

Cheers,

It looks like its done on the computer. If so, its probably not the best to learn how to draw; traditional means is. Using Pencils/Pens feels more natural, and you have the work in reality instead of on the screen, which makes you more proud of your ackomplishment, especially early on. I know animation is CG based, but general drawing skills is a great addition; especially done with traditional mediums.

Thanks for your comments.
About my background, I should say I started 3D animation in Iran in 1993 when I start my education in university(Civil engineering).
I started my experience with softimage/3D v3.1, but we didn’t have enough refrence for learning the artistic side of the software and all of our experience was based on “trial and error”.
The other problem about my experience in Iran was the level of quality.
My animations were all floaty and I had lots of problems in different areas.
so, it was always my dream to go to school again and learn the artistic side of the 3D world.
I moved to Canada (Vancouver) 2 years ago and when I came here I applied for a job several times and could not find one in the industry, but I was not unhappy because this gave me a reason to go to school and learn the things I had trouble with before.
So I began my education at BCIT (British Columbia Institute of Technology) for “Digital Animation”
One big difference for me was learning from knowledgable people and having lots of refrences for learning.
The drawings I posted are not done on the computer. In the middle of my life drawing course I began using markers, and found it very handy, which is why those 30 second poses are all done this way.
I’ll post some 2 minute poses very soon.
I appreciate any comments because it will only improve my skills.

#7

this is a 2 minute pose with marker

as you can see I had to correct some parts!

Nice Capture of form… I particularly like the style with the “Marker on Paper” look it gives. I’d love to take some of the forms into Photoshop and detail them.

Keep up the good work!

Nomy

P.S. Do you have any drawings that have Higher Detail? More time spent?

#9

Thanks for your comments.

yes I like working with markers.I have some more detailed drawings and I’ll post them one by one because I want to get ideas as much as I can in every stage.

Thanks for your comments.
I will defenatly work on my drawings to improve them.
I feel there is still a long long way to go.
These are my first experience of “Life Drawing” in my whole life.
but because I found that relaxing and useful for my modeling skills I’ll try to keep doing it.
I should work on details and learn that part of drawing too.
I had some experience with photoshop too.
this is what I’ve done 5 months ago with photoshop.
I draw that from a picture.I don’t know why exactly I don’t like it but …
I’ll appreciate if you give me your comments about it too.

#13

here are some more 5 minute poses,

#14

this is one of the characters that I’m working on for my demo reel.

I’ll appreciate if somebody tells me where I can upload my life drawings to show them here.
because it seems “photobucket” doesn’t work for that purpose!

shahabp,

Photobucket unfortunately no lnnger allows nudity - I recommend imageshack:

www.imageshack.us

Do you have renders of the character without clothes / in orthographic views? It’s hard to critique the figure with the clothes (but it looks really good so far).

After a long time doing some projects, now I can spend some time for my own stuff.
these are my new drawings that I’ve done all in computer using tablet.
it’s still hard for me to control it but I’m gonna use it till I feel I’m comfortable with it.
