Sketchbook Thread of SaraD

Damn SaraD, your skintones are getting better all the time! You really capture the model beautifully.

#22

This is the latest task in the Open Figure Drawing Workshop - a mastercopy. So much fun, and so hard to do… Damn, he was a good painter

The original painting can be seen here

Struggling on

#24

Needed another object to paint, and left the figuredrawing to concentrate on some portraiting instead. Just a WIP.

#25

Very cool to see this, Ms. D! Does the background at the moment look a bit apocalyptic?

I’m sure this will be another great piece!

Cheers,

Still trying to put the models in composition, and this is the latest result.

#27

Wow Sara, just checked out this thread - you have some beautiful work going on here! Colours and form are just wonderful  my only suggestion is that sometimes your work feels like it could use a slight dash of texture here and there, generally they’re rather smooth - very nice stuff, I’ll be checking back here. Hej hej!

#28

Beautiful start, SaraD! Thrilled to have you back for OFDW 014, and no, you didn’t miss anything, I’m just superstitious.

Sorry to hear about the internet / Painter problems, but I’m happy you’re not letting it get you down and are back in action! :bounce:

Cheers,

Hi…SaraD :wavey:

WOW!!..Nice imagination at work…:applause:
Composition looks great to me…gets my eye moveing…nice flow to it…but you know what
I see, or rather don’t see…the baby dolphin that is just breaking the surface of the water
next to it’s mothers tail…must be what the girl is looking at…maybe
Like the way you overlapped the shapes…gives it a lot of depth.
Beautiful painting Sara…a real pleasure seeing it… :arteest:
TAKE CARE

Next master copy. William B. this time around as well. The last one got destroyed by master painter-crash, but I don´t give up… And take copies in other fileformats

#32

Finally had the time to join an OFDW. Here´s my start on Rembrandts “Titus van Rijn in a Monk’s Habit”

#33

Wow! Thats looking great Sara!!:scream: Whats your canvas size?

#34

rblitz7, the monk is on a 3500x3000 px canvas, 200 dpi. I usually work around that size, since my computer tend to slow down when I go bigger. I often scale parts of the painting while I´m working on details and the scale them down again:)

Next mastercopy from OFDW16. Selfportrait by Rembrandt

#35

Wanted a break from the master copying over in the OFDW, and started a piece with one of the models from Hong Ly´s superb collections over at http://characterdesigns.com. I don´t have the whole concept yet, but I´m really enjoying to paint the female body in my own colorscheme again

#36

An update on my flowergirl. You´ll see the flowers soon;)

#37

Ooh, great to see you doing this, SaraD! Looking forward to your progress.

Cheers,

~Rebeccak

Slowly making progress

#39

Feet and hand “finished”. In my opinion the hardest part - so I´m so glad I can leave them behind, and start on the face :bounce:

Nice work. I look forward to seening your progress.
