Sketchbook Thread of PrayingMantis - 3D

Hi all,
I hope I didn’t make any mistake with the naming of my thread.
I will post essentially 3D works, but the Faq said the naming convention change to Sketchbook. If that’s wrong, change it :slight_smile:

     So here we go, I am doing a face to train me, but Im stuck. The face is "good" but Im not happy with it, it is lacking of something I can't point out.

Can you give me some advice and critics about it ?

Welcome! Nice to see another 3D artist here - I can do a paintover if you like, but mostly it would be really minor suggestions. I won’t have a chance til later today but can post a PO later - in the meantime, it would be nice to hear something about your background as an artist. :slight_smile:

Looking forward to seeing more of your work, definitely check out the threads of anandpg, Intervain, claybub, oDdity, and several others of the 3D folks here. :slight_smile:

And for my background as an artist… hum I don’t know what to say about.
I don’t think I got any background as an artist, it’s more a story about my life and it is really chaotic.
I started into 3D since a little more than 3 years now, I should never be there normally.
But furtunally I live in France :slight_smile:
I have done a “normal” study, I got a scientific degree in high school ( baccalauréat in France ), when I was 15 I wanted to do an art graphic school but it was too expensive for me. So after my degree I went to University to study Biology.
But when I was at University I decided to do what I really like, and I stopped everything for 3D, and then began the hard part :twisted:

I was homeless and workless, but I was able to get a “Free Home” provided by social assistance. After that I was able to find a job, a crapy one but I could buy a computer and start to learn by myself.
I have done a free education in 3D, that was a new formation for workless and it was free if you were searching for a job.
The formation was crappy but it gave me the time to learn 24/7.

At the begining I wanted to learn only computer graphics, but now I love all form of art, especially the classical part.
I really love the greek’s sculpture and the works of great master.
I want to gather enough money to be able to go into school to learn the way of the great master.
I hope being able to reach the Academy of Florence one day :love:
And that’s it, I never accept the fact that I couldn’t choose my life because I don’t have money, it was hard, it is still hard but I think I have passed the most difficult.

Furtunally I live in the good Land and in the right age. Without the internet I would never do what I have done. I could get free education with all these fabulous forum such as Cgtalk, Conceptart and much more are.

I hope I didn’t bore you with this little story :slight_smile:
