Speed Sculpting devil dog… concept of Milesteves

Awesome!! Way to go buddy!!:buttrock: You are on to it now!!:scream: You oughta get some reference for those wrinkles on the corner of the mouth, though… I don’t think they’re likely to get those “S” curves there. Check the shape of the tongue… looks kinda wooden right now… gotta get some character into it. Anyways, I am mighty glad to see you practise so consistently; you are improving real quick, man!! Keep it going!:thumbsup:

HEY…Nitin…:slight_smile:

MONSTERS…:eek: :thumbsup:

If you want some good references for studying emotions, expressions, frightening states of mind ect.,…you might check out medievel art of Europe…Those old churches are a treasure trove of intense states of mind which have a realism to them that is lacking in current times, for the simple reason that the montrous images, emotions ect. that they portrayed back then, were very very REAL in the minds of the artist who portrayed them.

Just a passing thought that might be of some help and use to you…:slight_smile:

Keep up the great work and progress…:slight_smile: :thumbsup:

@anandpg: Thanks Anand! i will have a look at some references… but in this case actually i was trying to get it as close as possible to the devil dog concept by milesteves

@SpiritDreamer: Thank you so much for the info Glenn! i tried googling the medieval art churches but couldn’t find what i was looking for… :shrug: i tried searching with different tags, but wasn’t lucky:sad: i am looking for such references with intense emotions, could you please tell me how to find good references on mediveal art of europe…

@retartedmonkey: Thanks Michael! i am glad you liked it

@htodi: Thanks buddy!

I have not been able to sculpt anything from last two days due to frequent powercuts and rains, so will sculpt something new on weekends until then i will do some studies and sketching… btw, i purchased some clay :slight_smile: sculpting in real clay is much more relaxing… trying the methods i do in zbrush onto real clay ( Digital > Analog ) i am kind of learning it backwards now…lol! :stuck_out_tongue:

Hey …Nitin…:slight_smile:

You might check out the sculptures that are all over the cathedral of Notra Dame and also the Last Judgement painting by Michelangilo, and even further back in time, is the guy who Michelanglo got his idea for that painting from, can’t remember his nane off hand.
Hieronymus Bosch…and Bruegel capture the thought and expressions of those dark times pretty good aslo.
Maybe google medievil gargoles…I’m not sure how to search for them on the computer,…I usually go to the public library and just browse the art section…Boston has a great library with a ton of outstanding art books, which usually have whatever i’m searching for somewhere within them…plus when I just browse, I usually find the unexpected, which turns the journy into an adventure…:slight_smile:
Looking forward to seeing some of your real life clay sculpture…it’s really nice when you can actually touch the thing that your creating, while your creating it…The best sculptures were created before their was electricity and computers.:slight_smile:

#94

Hi Nitin…Good to see you posting again…:slight_smile:
Nice relief studies…I like the hand.:thumbsup:
You might find some good reference for your obese character if you google SUMO WRESLERS…Japan…Some of those guys are huge.:eek: …Just a thought.

@collings: Thanks a lot!

@SpiritDreamer: Thanks! Great to join you again in these sketchthreads… actually i found some references of sumo wrestlers but somehow i find them less interesting and they look more like balloons…hehe! i wanted something interesting going around like lots of flabby folds etc… sometimes i see it in movies and all but now i don’t seem to find similar references, seems like obese people hesitate to show their bodies :hmm:
