Sketchbook Thread of Monster_General

#1

Hey guys/gals , I just wanted to open another topic for my anatomy studies ( Thanks to Rebeccak  ) , previous one was full with unserious studies . I would try to do serious studies in here much as possible . So Cya soon with another one , but currently I just have a skull sketch I do after I’ve found a good image over google . Comments and critics extremely welcome as always !

I will make copy works until I started to learn designing true lines with my own imagination

Great to see this!

One thing I would recommend is posting images that are a bit larger ~ no more than 800 pixels in width, though. This will make it much easier to see things.

Also, feel free to post your latest studies here as well (totally up to you).

Cheers,

~Rebeccak

Heh, you can’t expect to do only a few drawings and then to remember everything. It takes a lot of practice, and drawing from memory is a hard task. To be able to do so, you must first have a big stock of images to remember! That can only come from drawing from life, master drawings, and from reference.

So I must make a ‘’ lot of ‘’ copy works first * goes work *

#6

Yep!

Here I tried to do cat portraits , they are count as Anatomy study too isn’t it ?

Yes, of course. People, animals, even imaginary creatures are all welcome on the Anatomy Forum.

One really good reference site you should check out is linked here:

Link to SurgiCat Database
http://forums.cgsociety.org/showpost.php?p=3533074&postcount=2

You can search the SurgiCat Database for all sorts of skeletal specimens, it’s a great resource! It would be great to see you do some drawings from that, they have animal as well as human skeletons.

For example, I ran a search for ‘cat skeleton’, and came up with this:

Horse Portrait :

#11

Ah, very nice!

There is something about the neck that seems perhaps too skinny? You might try giving it just a bit more width.

Nice to see your progress!

Thanks a lot Rebeccak  O ye , I noticed it , I was trying to give good shading in that area but I think I am not succeeded , I will try another horse maybe later  Currently I am working on an animal skull , I hope I do it right

hey omar, nice stuff here. I like the way of shading!
maybe add more contrast to achieve more depth in your images.
good detail! keep drawing and updating.

#16

Thanks a lot again Rebeccak , I am glad to hear you think its good

Hey . Thanks  Yea I currently trying to find a ‘’ clear ‘’ way of depth shading , I will definately try to do it right later .

Also I will keep up until learn

Here a dog skull I’ve tried

Yo Monster

Did a great job on this last one - always love drawings of the actual bones. Like Cyanid said, you might try and push the value to create a better sense of depth. Also be careful with your backgrounds - the shading in the background seems too arbitrary: try using the background to compliment the subject.

Doing great - keep us updated!

Thank you for the comment Demented  I actually not do background , I just choose neon effect in PS and it becomes like that , in original sketch there isn’t background

Oh and thanks a lot again Rebeccak , I am being glad to see you are browsing to my topic allthe time
