Sketchbook Thread of INTERVAIN - 2D/3D

Sign me up! You should listen to Rebeccak, Intervain, do us a workshop!
Wow fantastic beta models, the bronze photoshoped version turned out great! The nostrils of the monster look a bit unfinished. They all of a sudden stop at the muzzle instead of wrapping under towards the septum. I only say this now after modelling nothing but noses for 3 weeks straight, that’s the first thing I look for on models now! You going to start posting these on the beta forum too, or are you just waiting to have a really large number of models to show off?
Very inspiring, keep it up.

Your models are absolutely amazing. I really like the ones that look like they are bronze sculptures/busts.
I can also see a lot of improvement in your paintings from the start to the end of this thread. I think the only thing I would suggest is to work on the blending of the brushstrokes…the anatomy in the paintings look good. Sorry if this has been suggested already, I didn’t read all 40+ pages of comments

This is definitely a sketchbook I’ll be watching!

#663

OOOH!! WOW! Awesome work on ZBrush, Magdalena!!:bounce: The long-haired guy has turned out beautiful!!:applause:… love that hair!!

#664

Hey Hey! Just cause I can squash and strech well doesn’t mean I’m less of a character. But in reality squash and stretch exist in realism too, which is why so many realistic animation look horrible, they forget to use it. The pose is still weak because its a mirrored pose. A good way to know if a pose works is to remove all colors from it so its in sillouhette (I can’t remember how to spell that). If nothing is obscurred it tends to read better to the eye. Fingers should be at different levels. Or at least that you can read each start of the finger easily.

Thanks guys!

Rebeccak - I’ll drop ya a line soon

plunq - thanks! you’re right about them nostrils ofcourse! I posted the stuff on zbrush central yesterday

wildsheepchase - thanks  I’m glad you like my models! hehe - you got me with the brush strokes blending thing - I always ment to practice that but I’m way too lazy to… you’re right I should!

anandpg - awww~! thanks so much, means a lot coming from you mate! Glad you like the guy… it’s funny, I guess he’s partly a nice accident - I’m more chuffed about that bow around his neck LOL

well… obviously the cowboy needed a friend  so I couldn’t resist and made one for him today… hope you’ll like…

#666

Hey…I’m a complete knucklehead. I just saw your master copy tutorial and you can blend circles around me.
The tutorial is awesome, by the way. Thanks!

#667

Wow, that’s really gorgeous! The only nitpicky thing I will mention here in an attempt to appear useful  is the wrinkles about the nose give her a funny expression - like she’s smelled something funny but not quite realized it yet  - but other than that, just amazing work. Each piece seems to be easier and easier for you! I’m definitely looking forward to what’s to come…pretty soon, you will have populated a whole town!

#668

Be very cool to see you do a workshop  Amazing the speed and consistency that you bring these out with. Hopefully part of a workshop would have bit of step by step of your process… and maybe a few of the troublesome spots. As per my comment in Joel’s thread, how folks on your level approach eye sockets (and similar trouble spots) would be an interesting topic

Impressive as usual ;D

#669

Very nice! How long did it take to sculpt? And is that the cowboy’s lover?

#670

Oups… I’m feel very small front of your works Magadalen… I like to be speechless… and especially to watch some realizations that I’m not be able to do one day…

I’ve much respect for your art, your skill… and your incredible feeling… that seem simple for you, and it’s again better like that

Please, continue to make us dream

#671

Really Magdalena, you astound me everytime. Caramba! that last guy is very nice and the previous one is just insanle hard from my POV haha. :applause:

…so…I couldn’t help but notice the idea of a workshop being passed to you…

Sign me up! I suck:shrug:

#672

Oh my, the girl got berserk with sculpting! Inspiring work! Now you can play cowboys and indians, haha! Love the cowboy is looking. Long hair, moustache, amazing sculpture.
Only your roller skate girl didn’t show up to me. I want to see her!

#673

wildsheepchase - well thanks very much but I still suck at it so you were right

Rebeccak - lol I actually didn’t see that expression but now every time I look at him I get that sense… :scream: it’s rather funny… I made the lines on his face harsh because I wanted the whole thing to feel like wood carving… but you’re right… also I feel his upper eyelids should be more drooping… now he looks like he’s had a botox injection

kary - thanks very much! Well I am very happy about the prospect of that workshop so if you guys have anything you’d like to tackle in zbrush in particular shoot … the more brains in the storm the better

Womball - did you say nice?! wow - thanks! Well actually I did him from a base mesh of mine [eyes stolen from a zbrush base mesh ;P], which the other guy was made of as well… the sculpting alone took about 5hrs… around 7 on the other one…

Lemog - sheesh! Too kind by far! I still have miles and miles to cover. Thank you so much!

Isaias - aww - thanks, as usual… glad the idea of the workshop is catching up… should be fun - I’d rather like to join in the fun already but we have to wait a while

razz - LOL…yep I have to admit I’m addicted to Z3! I simply looooove every bit of it  i’m glad you like … the girl’s on hold for now  - you know me, I do change my mind … I will tackle her later for sure…

well… for now I started sculpting this little thing yesterday… [did the base from an old one 2 days ago…] an ecorche study… just part of the body though… no time to do the whole thing…
like I said it’s only the beginning - laying in the basic shapes - when I have more done I’ll show other views as well… for now the front should suffice :scream:
It is a good lesson… I’d like the finished one to look like those 18th century models

#674

Yes its a rare saying. Although I thought it was a she. I can attest to the difficulty of a full body anatomy study! Its looks good, although he’s a uniq currently.

#675

Je ne sais plus quoi dire…

…just proud to know you… this ecorched man is already impressive even not finished, sorry to doesn’t have constructive crits… I’m just under the charm

#676

Thanks guys! glad you like…
well the work goes on… + some photoshopping to see if I can get that wood look I’m after… not yet but why not have fun huh>

and here’s the default shader version

#677

Won’t you be fighting that wax shader a bit, to try to get it to wood? Seems like the creases work are a bit different in the wax then you would expect in a wood surface (ironic, as wood is often waxed). Very cool piece though, trying to do some full body stuff with a comforting layer of fat to avoid detailed muscle rendering… what you’ve done here would be hard ;).

Workshop: The eye area, hands, how you maintain focus to pull out the incredible volume of quality of material, etc – all kinds of topics would be good

Great work lately.

#678

Hey, woop didn’t know there was so many awsome 3d artists in sketchbook section. I know shit all about 3d, they look friggin stunning… I always wanted to paint that bronze effect… nice! cheers, Min

#679

 Ohhhh … I just got a little heart attack
