Thanks Amanda
another little doodle today… a character from a tv show this time
really hard to get the mouth of his right!

tizianoadmirer thanks! no I’m not going to get more into it - just a sketch - glad you like though
today - one sick sketch coming your way…no idea where that came from…just felt like sitting down and doodling in Photoshop - no refs or anything… would be fun to do in 3d…
Nice work on those 3 sketches.
Taking a minute or two to put in a bit variety to the greens in the background of the first would have been nice. Having the very painterly figure against such a plain background pops out a bit. Hard to guess how far you want to take a sketch, but I imagine you can deal with a bit of background variety really quickly
The lighting work in #2 is really cool. The white blobs in the background hint at the right optical effect nicely. The lips problem might be that they're a little low? The shape of them seems right, but the indent above the lips (philtrum) seems long.
I'm loving the last one, and it would be a great sculpture. They had a bit of coverage of the statuary at the Vimy memorial this morning, and seeing that forced a look into mind that would fit the upper body :) Very cool elongation style on the lower limbs working there... it's an interesting one in general :)
Your sketches are communicating really well these days, grats :)
thanks for the kind words kary! I am thinking about doing a sculpt out of it…
well for now I was inspired to do a sketch for the daily sketch forum - my first… 45 mins in photoshop, subject: FIRE - fist thing that popped into my head… quite like the colours I have to say… it is a big mess though LOL

Wow, some very cool 2d sketches! What program did you use for the movie and t.v. characters? Thanks for stopping by my thread and I’m glad you like the elf.
Hey Magdalena… Nice sketches:thumbsup:… love the way you use colors… did you try using Corel Painter? Any update on the soldier?
Waouw… the easter days was very productive for you… very nice drawings… me like especially the second one, I must agree with you… this one in 3d will be great
but I hope you finish the soldier before… I impatient to discover the bird
Have a nice day…
Ehi great sketches!
It’s very very important to see how a 3d-addicted develops 2D sketches. It’s clear your mental-representation of volumes and lights and this helps me a lot! Thank you !
Samanthie - thanks
It’s Photoshop all the way
Anand - oh I’ve tried Painter, as Glenn could tell ya
I hate that sofware with a passion and just cannot change my mind about it for the world of me LOL
Lemog - cheers!
Johan - looking forward to yours then
I’m sure it will be far less chaotic than mine:)
CyborgJA - thanks very much! oh I have still so much to learn sigh
well thanks to your pushing and nudging I’ve got second wind in my sails
thanks for that! So I started the birdie with an attitude today… not much attitude there yet LOL - just the beginnings of the head… it’s still symmetrical but once I get it into zbrush that will change
I want his expression to mimic that of the soldier in a way and I think I’ll give him an olive branch or something to hold in the mouth like the soldier does his cygar… that still might change though… many ideas in the head…
'nuff said:

Great start. Nostrils maybe? They seem prominent on photoref, maybe not needed in a toon version though.
Oh well, for what I can understand it’s already a great model
I agree with Kary about nostrils.
Can’t wait to see the next step !
kary - thanks! I was thinking of doing the nostrils in zbrush… hmm maybe I’ll model them then!
CyborgJA - LOL too kind
Womball - haha… yeah that’s the least of my problems now
well just fooling around today… the body is in the proxi stage for now - hope to get it into shape and ready for zbrushing tomorrow… now though - tell me what you think about my pose plans… and do you think the bird should have a larger head? be bulkier? or thinner? or maybe he should salute the guy with a stunned expression? LOL
cheers

Awesome
I like the contrast of having the character's eyebrow raises happening on opposite sides. It's a little hard to read it with the very open socket on the bird though... not sure how that could be done differently.
It'd be nice to see a more formal stand-in for the final olive branch -- to read as olive I think it would have to be a bit bigger.
A salute out of the bird seems a little odd. The dove role is symbol of peace and to have him saluting starts to mix metaphors (so to say).
I would think a bit thinner in the body would be better. The top of the head seems to goes a bit high for me. Have you got through Disney's Valiant? The character design is not bad in spots, eg: [villian,](http://www.coolbuddy.com/wallpapers/movies/1024/imgs/Valiant-1024-06.jpg) [love interest,](http://www.coolbuddy.com/wallpapers/movies/1024/imgs/Valiant-1024-03.jpg) [trailer](http://vanguardanimation.com/trailers/val_med.html).
Any plans for feet, or keeping it implied behind the helmet?

Great stuff. Face is more then amusing, and the bird looks like it's going to do justice to the bust :)
kary - cheers! Thanks so much, good advice there… The eyebrows are just photoshopped for now… I will make them more opposing those of the Soldier indeed!
I went through many WB and Disney characters but for the world of me I totally forgot about Valiant - thanks so much for that ![]()
Yes I want to make the feet similar to those on that pixar bird
there’ll be no olive branch either - and there’s none above LOL that’s just a leaf for the poor thing to cover up
- I had a weird sense of humour I guess hehe…
Thanks again!
ROFL
…
That little birdie totally cracks me up …
