Sketchbook Thread of INTERVAIN - 2D/3D

ha-dou-ken - thanks very much Isaias

abyss103 - it’s the same render I posted only with some colour adjustments

SpiritDreamer - thanks for the tips Glenn!

CgIcecube - Oh I want him rugged as well

for now here’s a tiny update -Back to modeling…
did the shirt and t and started some zbrushing on them, not finished there yet so I know it’s looking weird ;)… I’ve only modeled as much as I needed - a bust… you’ll be able to see only a bit of the shirt on the final image really. And since his clothes are not the most important thing I’ve decided to make them simple… hope you’ll like…

#562

Perfect  If it were to be a wider final shot I’d say something about Sergent stripes, but with the tight final shot, it is spot on

#563

That’s one nice looking soldier you’ve created there, Intervain! I have no crits at all, you’re doing an amazing job on this. Did you think anything about the environment/background for this guy?

#564

thanks guys!

razz - well I want it to look a bit like a Rockwell illustration so I’ll probably just add a bit of sky behind him… Rockwell concentrated on the characters rather than bgs in those cover arts of his

didn’t like some things in the shirt so I got rid of most of the wrinkles and started redoing those… only began so not much there yet… added some shoulder pads and quickly zbrushed the t-shirt…

#565

The greatest character ever, April fools!
The lack of a plunger or rabbit ears hurts him.
It is nice though, nice start of clothing him.

I started using a wacom board!

#566

Very different and original work… alreayd with high level.

Just one minor thing disturb me a little… holes for buttons are generally vertical, not ? like that, that seem more fragil, especially for a soldier… :scream:

About the other parts, nothing to crit… very well done

#567

Womball - you’re just as evil as me LOL … well close second :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Lemog - OMG! I feel stupid - you’re SO right about those button wholes… will correct it pronto  Thanks for visiting

#568

I know it’s only a little detail, but of course very important in the real life

what ? it’s not the real life :scream:

Have a nice day…

#569

Hey Mag ’

Saw your army man on your portfolio , and I made a nig w00t !
Awesome modeling for sure , the expression is so natural and fun , really beautiful !

so what have planned for him ? full figure ? pose ? anim ? several characters ? whole army ? war ? :scream:

eagerly looking forward for more of course ,

cheers

-Zapan

#570

Lemog - cheers!

Zapan - thanks very much  Glad you like him… No army LOL - just him and the dove…

I’ve been way too lazy to do anything these past 2 days :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye: - only some experimenting with the face… I’m slowly coming to a conclusion that I don’t need sss… I still don’t have proper maps painted - just basic colour and my spec is so basic it hurts LOL but I was playing around a little so I might as well show yee! btw- dirtmap way too strong but I couldn’t be bothered with the settings :scream:

OH btw - I have this idea for the dove - I want it to be more of a birdie with character rather than just a dove… so I was thinking of making it along the lines of them Pixar ‘For the Birds’ fellas - well different shape naturally but also expressive… and I was thinking of the dove looking at the guy the way the guy’s looking at it - with one eye bigger and with an attitude! So it’s like a confrontation scene. What ya think?!

#571

He will need to be the same shape of the soldiers head to work I think and a similar proportioned bird head. Draw several birds first. I wish I had more time to do stuff, but its all about the senior animation. :frowning:

#572

Hey Magdalene,

you’ve been really busy here and the soldier character is already amazing:thumbsup: , can’t wait to see your next steps…and of course the idea of “confrontation” with the dove is very good! I like the expressive Pixar animals, so I’m curious to see what you make with the bird…

Nice day for you!:wavey:

#573

same feeling for me… these birds are fantastics, I already imagine how could be funny the new situation with this guy… I’ma waiting to see how you’ll manage his look !
Nothing to crit about the texturing…

#574

that confrontation idea sounds awesome… sounds like fine storytelling…

#575

hey mag!

fun idea for the scene. texturing is coming along nicely aswell.
can’t wait to see the bird.

#576

HEY…Magdalena…

Interesting idea…giving the dove character…how about having a bird dropping  … running down the side of his helmet and landing on the soldiers shoulder while your at it…:scream:…just a passing thought…
TAKE CARE
Glenn

Well… ehem… I’m too lazy to continue now - there I’ve said it… I so can’t force myself to start modeling that bird 0_0
I’m glad you like the idea and hope I’ll get back on it soon… YAY the good folks at Pixologic offered me their beta trial at home so I’ll be definitely using it’s full potential soon!

HAVE A GOOD HOLIDAY and thanks for visiting
