Sketchbook Thread Of Ha-dou-ken - 2D/3D

#81

Hi Glenn! I thought about borrowing reference figures and putting them in fantasy settings…actually I think about it a lot. I guess I’ve been scared a bit. I don’t know if I know enough about color to pull something like that off. I am looking at your thread…now! I love your work so I would have watched it attentively regardless! In fact I do!

I think you, mecha, anand, razz, thomas and zhuzhu are my faves here. You guys are what push me so hard everyday.

I have more heroes on the 3d spectrum, but that’s for another thread…heh. Thanks for the input Glenn. More in a bit, aftter I eat up your thread haha.

I finally started to get back in 3D heh. I think I’ll finish this tonight.

C&C’s welcome.

[font=Arial]I need to add the ears and fix alot of more elements. Maybe put some ab muscles in there…I wish humans didn’t have to sleep…eeh.

Interesting looking character. I think the tail should come off the end of the spine…looks too high now.

Cris

Thanks for the advice Cris. I had a hard time considering the placement of the tail…unfortunately I am not of a concept artist. My co-worker said the same thing as you about the tail. I will have to fix it after doing a bit more research here in the anatomy threads.

This was also a test for SSS with VRAY. More soon heh, like always.

ha-dou-ken

nice char
concidering he has his mouth wide open, i imagine his head would look quite small with closed mouth…
also, the spinous proces of this one vertebra looks a bit silly all by itself… maybe make a couple more of those vertabrae visible above and below the currently visible one…

you’re on your way to make a nice character, please continue

#87

Thanks Johan! I really appreciate the advice! I will work on this little guy this weekend and post some more soon.
Good idea about the horns too. I thought about having a chain hanging from that one horn. (It was meant to be a lot bigger too) It is a little silly though…more soon!

Hi…Isaias…

Really like that last one…very hard angle to get right…looks like you pulled it of…:applause:
Wish I knew what she was looking at, to creat that expression she has…
GREAT light touch of the brush on this one…subtle color values …really nice the way you handled the color and lighting around the chin and neck area…
You might, on a seperate version//layer, play around and refine the eye that is closest to the viewer…pupal shadow ect., just to see if it intensifies the expression, always give the eyes more attension on a loose style painting…really helps to creat mood and expression.
GREAT to see you experimenting with brush work…best way to express and instill emotion into your work…
Keep going. Looking forward to seeing more…
TAKE CARE

Thank you Glenn!:scream: haha.

Yeah, this angle was extremely challenging for me…It was such a pain. Her expression is what caught my attention too. I’ll see if I can work on those eyes. It was draining to get the angle proper, and I am still not happy with it, but…

Thanks again Glenn.

I made up a story for her. She was waiting for the bus in deep concentration and she suddenly heard a loud noise coming from up the street. She was upset that it distracted her but is then curious to find out what that noise exactly was because she could not see anything that far.

good story… matches her expression well

Very nice and atmospheric work here.

#96

Thanks Becca:) I’ve been feeling a little melancholy the last couple of days. I’m working on atmosphere…

Hi Isaias!! Awesome work on the kid’s picture… really nice brush strokes… Love that casablanca pic too… you really captured the mood.

#98

Btw, whats that mark on the child’s chest?

#99

Aww, thanks Anand! You rule. I’m going to get some more stuff soon. I want to get really inspired on my trip to mexico since I’ll be touring around the old villages. I hope to find inspiration there. Thanks again.

the mark is a barcode. I googles “priceless” and that little boy came up. I think he was a holocaust victim or something. I think the barcode is just a political statement or something…I liked it.

Heh, it’s funny how a person’s mood can affect a painting…sometimes your best work comes out of these moments. Hope you are feeling perkier soon though, we all hit these rough patches.
