browsing your thread, there are lots of interesting stuff
love the lose line style
Hey Gord… been a while
Great stuff in your thread as usual
I’m crazy about this one:

It looks very Rembrandt-ish to me
Much better than your Amy “Whine Whine Whinehouse” I think, but I guess it’s more because I can’t stand her hehe
moazoa - thanks for dropping by!
Johan - yup - I like that drawing myself - fast but to the point.
LOL Amy whine-house (now, now - lets be nice ;))
I am really fighting with the caricatures - I gotta learn to be less literal
Gord
Hi Gord, I like your foodcourt and charicature sketches. Even though they’re simple and sketchy, they’ve got a lot of form to them and they really do capture the character!
The digital painting of “Amy winehouse” I think would look better if you use more colors on the skin/hair. Different variations of the skin tone and also shadow color.
Thanks Roja -
yup the Amy Winehouse is a bit of a washout (no pun intended)
some real quickies:

Hey Gord,
Love the caricatures. The line work has a lot of life.
Agreed with Johan. Very cool line sketch pf woman.
I see you are playing with values, good exploration.
What I would suggest is not to be afraid to make a definite statement of your lights. Cut into them with your eraser. you can always go back and soften the edge. A drawing is enhanced when there is a balance of soft and HARD edges.
Always a pleasure to have you stop by my thread and comment.
AztcFireFlower - thanks for the feedback (and sorry I am so late to respond - I have been away from cgtalk for awhile) I think your advice is well taken - I do tend to smude things a bit - your suggestion of putting more contrast into my images confirms my own self critisism. Thanks!
some really simple figure studies all but the last from photos - the last from a “subway sketch” I did:

Fantastic face studies, including the caricatures set. I love the unborn child image, too. Now I see what I am missing in my studies - the variety of expressions both in faces and in lines. Nice body anatomy studies, too. Keep up the good job!
Wow, lot of work.
Last figure studies are really good
Nice flow, great to see.
Keep it up the great art.
Merry Christmas !
sirielle, Intervain, Djampa - thanks for dropping by and offering your comments. Yes I do enjoy the quickies - always time for them - not so with sustained works

Gord
HEY Gord…:wavey:
ALWAYS a pleasure stopping by your thread…never know what to expect.
I like the last one…great character…
I was also really likeing those close up photos of bugs and flowers ect. that you were taking awhile back…I bet if you could get in that close to some human faces, you would get some great results, seeing how you seem to have a natural nak for capturing the character of your subjects…would make great refference material for drawings/paintings that you could do at your own pace later on…Just a passing thought that crossed my mind as I was going through your thread…
Anyway…Hope you had a great holiday, and hope to see lots more of your creations in the coming year…
TAKE CARE
Glenn
Hey Gord,
today I stumbled over your little story about your life in Alice’s thread and how you use drawing and art to let in happiness like one could use the windows to let in a bit of fresh air.
That was one inspiring and beautiful read - thanks for that and have a wonderful new year.
yours
Mu
Hi Glen, MU it is always great to hear from you guys. Your are both doing some interesting work (as usual).

another take…

Gord
You know you could make quite a nice extra buck if you would take these caricatures all the way to a fully shaded painting…
Lovely bunch of life sketches Gord!
Great to see you updating your thread again!
