WOW! Everything in your thread is just amazing. Especially the last few works - the energy of the lines and the colours. Love it.
Sketchbook Thread of Gord MacDonald
Hey Gord!
The last one is so sweet. The expression is very interesting and the focal point is clear. I also like those color studies, pretty chaotic.
Very expressive!
Thanks for the comment. You have a nice SB too!
A scary looking baby you got there…Well drawn… but scary
Thanks JHO
here is a study in pencil and ps - lots of work still possible on it (this image is less that 30% image size)

Gord
Hehe. I don´t have an Idea of what it is exactly, but you got a nice shading in the volumes.
HEY …Gord…
Always like those character/emotion studies of yours…
I think you have a great technique developed in that last unborn child one…the combination of crisp and softness works really well…STRONG IMAGE…and TECHNIQUE…![]()

Hi Gordon, nice studies in your sketchbook!
What I like most are the caricatures,a lthough done so loosely you do capture the likeliness and expressions very well.
That fetus study is very nice too.
I also like that study in post 70, especially the nose and mouth area…
keep it up.
Hey Gordon,
just looked through your thread and discovered some really nice pencil studies, I like your style of hatching!
And of course the caricatures are great, I’m always amazed to see someone catching the essential features and expressions with a few lines:) , good work, I want to see more…
Cheers,
-sabrina
Hi Gord!
Nice work in your thread. I can see that you are experimenting a lot with renderig methods, which is interesting to watch.
The last image of the fetus has an almost photographic quality.
Keep it up!
Agnaldo - glad you got it!
SpiritDreamer - always great to hear from you Glen - thanks for stopping by!
-voraz- Thanks so much!
daWinky - Thanks for dropping by!
wildsheepchase - thanks for the comments - lots of layers of graphite on the fetus - it took about a week (pencil)

Hi …Gord.
Really doing a great job capturing those emotions…![]()
I like the loosness/energy/accuracy of them all.
GREAT to hear your taking a life drawing class…AGAIN…Really looking forward to seeing the drawings from it.
I did the same thing last year myself, after about the same amount of years inbetween class as you…felt like the old man in the sea at first, but really ended up enjoying it as time went by…I ended up drawing really large, using conte crayons, and charcoals…hadn’t done that in years…felt really good to get away from digital, and the computer for awhile actually…
ANYWAY…GOOD LUCK IN YOUR CLASS, AND ENJOY…![]()
