Thanks Glen - I do want to get into colour (I have probabily uttered that phrase as often as I have said “man I gotta lose some weight”) :scream:

That is a very nice start on that sketch, very clean, pleasant lines and so on  Seems like each piece brings a little bit more finish. I have to admit after all the caricature style portraits I’m interested in your take on Stephan Harper and Dion

#65

I like your abstract painting style. It is different from anything i have seen out there. Nice work.

#66

Thanks Kary - lol (I have one in mind for Harper and Dion)
Pushav - thanks!

quick studies of draperie - ala “Natural Way to Draw”.
Step 1
tack a piece of cloth to the wall
step 2 draw it
step 3
speculate what the cloth will look like if one of the tacks is moved
step 4
draw that speculation:

2 speculations:

nice drappery study gord, which remind me i have to do mine :D. do you find the study from nicolaides useful ?

#72

Hi Dreamy Kid - very useful - but it is a full time commitment - you can’t just browse the material you have to do all 300 hrs to get the real value from it - I has been 30 years since I did the course - I would like to do it again - alas no time. (the drawings are not 30 years old)

edit - original drawing removed

Ooh, that last digital piece is pretty interesting! I like your finished pieces a lot, I wish you had more time for those - the sketches are nice but they lack the punch that you’re able to give your more finished work.

Cheers!

#75

hey:) your caricatures and your undergoing pencil portrait is very nice.i’m not able to draw caricatures, can you give me some pointers on how to go bout it

#76

Glen - Thanks as always - glad you stopped by!

Becca - I wish I had the time to invest - maybe I can become more creative with my time (or win the lottery - YIPPEE!!! )

Thanks Killermachine - Caricatures ? I am taking a kick at the can, but totally suck compared to the “pros”. drawingboard.org has a forum for caricatures - some real talent often shows up - check it out (but of course keep coming to cgtalk! :scream:

This is a drawing I did in pencil and photoshop, from one of my photographs

It is a bit to plastic-y for my liking - not nuanced enough shrug
