next few scribbles…

Erich,
Great to see your new piece!
A few crits might be that the background purple seems a bit too simple ~ the composition seems too neatly divided into 3 roughly equal, color coded parts, and you might want to introduce a bit more saturation range there.
It’s also cool to see your new figures. One thing I really recommend is trying some large format charcoal drawings on newsprint ~ it’s a great way to loosen up and get some big gestures going.
Cheers,
~Rebeccak
Erich,
Great to see that you are prolific as always.
Looking forward to seeing some charcoal sketches, I think that will be just the thing!

Eric,
Np.
I think once you start to loosen up, you will really start to make big strides in your work.

Erich,
I quite like the first of these:
[left]but it seems that in all of the portraits, the eyes are a bit flat ~ really give the faces eye sockets, and situate the eyes within the sockets to give the faces requisite depth. Also I really encourage you to use some of the References from the 50 Portraits Thread instead of magazine / beauty shots, as typically these kinds of photos are not really for artistic purposes and not of very high quality in terms of lighting. Looking forward to seeing more of your work.
Cheers,

Hi Erich,
what was your old username? I was getting a bit confused here…
I totally like the reflection on the hair of this one…

thx.
well, this was just a test for me. i want to become my work more loose, so i switched back to painter. theres no way i could get that look with PS (i tried a lot in the last months). so i chose the first pics i found to test it.
Oversaw the 50-head-thing at all…damn it, now i’m very late. are you going to make another month, torso or so ?
so my goal for these studies is to loosen up in a painterly way…if that makes sense…
@Mr Mu
thx. i had EL Chief as username…i should have chosen my real name as new username, but now it’s too late, i think. Or is it possible to change ones username by a moderator?
