Sketchbook Thread of Dile

#1

Hey everyone, a friend to me from conceptart.org told me I should start a sketchbook here, and after lurking around a few days in this forum I found this place which obviously seems to be made for sketchbooks so I thought I’d join the steam! I hope to get a lot of feedback and critique, I would really appreciate if people pointed out small things as well as big problems in my art, cause I want to improve!

Quick introducement- My name is Dennis and I am from sweden, I have been a member here before but I thought that a fresh start wouldn’t hurt. I am currently 15 years old and my
big goal is to become a concept artist when I grow up. I don’t like to be threated after my age, but wish to have harsh critique which I can improve from. I love to draw and I discovered the artist-motivation in me about a year ago when I saw a video with Feng zhu.
I already had a tablet thanks to a friend who did awesome concepts and motivated me to “start”. So I just got going after discovering Conceptart.org. So a lot of things made me start drawing. My favorite artist is João Ruas and I found out about him just 3 weeks ago. Wish I found him earlier, really made me start working harder.

Enough rant haha heres what this thread is about. My art!

Some of my Recent stuff:

I’m looking forward in participating in all different kinds of activities on CGtalk.com

Hi Dennis, Welcome to you! I like the figure drawing on ‘moleskin7’. I would like to see some of those little figures at the top of that page a little closer. Nice work so far on the portrait of the Lady.

Dennis,

Welcome! Fantastic to see your level of talent at your age. What I recommend doing is starting to do some master studies in grayscale and also in traditional media / pencil. Take a look at this thread:

Also I would encourage you to participate in our many Workshops, which you can be notified of by subscribing here:

I look forward to seeing more of your work, and definitely encourage you to participate in the Open Figure Drawing Workshops (OFDWs) especially!

Cheers,

Hi,

I can’t see the image in your first post but I think that’s just at my end coz the others obviously can.

The 2nd image I can see and it looks really nice. i think the vehicle should come forward from the background just a little easier but it’s definitely nice work!

I looked up João Ruas as I had never heard of him and I’m glad you named him because he is indeed a great artist!.

What about some anatomy? Would love to see how you handle figure drawing

Thanks for sharing and I hope we can learn from eachother

Hey I can see those images from the first post now!

They look awesome!
My favourite is the 2nd to last with the blue knights… is that a traditional painting?
Love the roughness… fits to the subject.
If I would be nitpicking I would say the one on the right looks very small compared to the left one… but maybe the one on the left is a giant
