Nice. I now understand why everyone has been snickering that the chief export of Chuck Norris is pain. I will now need to go change. :scream:

Cheers for that, Mike! :scream:

Hi Default/Mike
If you are into morphing or morphed creatures here’s the real deal.
1/3 praying mantis, 1/3 scorpian, 1/3 spider
(Mrs. Spirit Dreamer’s pet.)
You can see the barbed spikes in his front “pinchers”; uses them same as
the praying mantis. This guy even has “hands” with “wrists” and a “thumb” to
break off bits of its prey - crickets usually for us.
It is a “non-spider arachnid”. His two front legs have become long antennae that
he can use to search for his pray around corners - almost like they can see and hear
with them.
Just thought you might get a kick out of it.
Take Care
Glenn

@Spirit dreamer - I am stunned by that little beastie! :surprised Is that thing actually real or a mock-up?? I am not scared of creepy-crawlies as a rule, but that thing is just plain bizarre!!

Thank you very much for the picture - it might just end up becoming reference for part of an MA project of mine this year…

take care

MIKE

#124

They are real and that is the actual size - doesn’t bite or sting or make webs.
Usually lives in caves…Here a couple google links:

@ The “Spirit Dreamer” household,

That is truely amazing then…

Thank you Mrs. Spirit Dreamer  None of those Google image links you provided appeared to have a patch on your beautiful specimen. What is his/her name?

Thank you very much again for the reference -

MIKE

#127

OK as I just promised…
Here are a few links to some bugs:
The Amblypigids carry their new babies around on their backs like a whip scorpion (sometimes they are called whip spiders)

Amblypigid with Babies
I would have put the pictures up but did not want to clutter up your personal thread or horrify Rebecca…

Another Amblypigid

more bugs:
Harlequin Beetle
Nixon Bug

Mrs. Spirit dreamer

These pictures are great - please feel free to clutter away on my thread if it is quality reference like this!! :scream:

(Also I don’t mind you frightening the life out of Becca on here from time to time  )

Thank you again

MIKE

#129

wow your drawings are mind blowing! i absolutely love your creatures!

@Lyneran Thank you very much for the kind comment. I am currently a little bogged down with my MA studies atm, but there should be more work posted up here soon…

Hey All,

It’s been a while… :scream:

i’m totally snowed under with Uni stuff for the next few days, but couldn’t resist doing these:

My lecturer of Portfolio Practice, Herb, is trying to get me to be more textural in approach.

Also, here are the results of 1 hour of Research paradigms…

I know that they have nothing to do with “Ethics in Computer Science,” but I have learned that this can be my most productive lesson of the week if you take “Artistic Anatomy” By Dr. Paul Richer and your sketchbook into the lecture theatre… :scream:

MIKE looking forward to RK’s new workshop

I NEED to finish this storyboard by Monday night at the latest as I have to produce the animatic on Tuesday for presentation on Wednesday, (nothing like leaving things until the last minute eh?!! )

Here are the first 16 images, and don’t worry - a person is attached to that hand you see in frame 15, and he will appear in later boards… :scream:

C&C welcome and appreciated.

For those of you viewing on CRT monitors, I do apologise, but I haven’t had time to clean the images up yet.:smiley:

MIKE  Watch this space…

#133

man!

I totally missed what is going on in here,

That particular track (what’s he building in there?) is one of my favourite (on one of my favourite TW’s albums).

So when and where can we see that animation/short film (“We got a right to know…”:scream: )- or in case you posted that already , errm I am sorry, did you?

:scream:

sorry, but I am really excited about this!

Looking really nice, Mike! Actually, the person whose advice you should seek re: storyboards is Kirt ~ I’ll harrass him for a crit.

@ Mr.Mu - This is the track chosen for the “Animation Contextual Studies” assignment by our lecturer. The track really is cool, I totally agree! The piece only is going as far as the animatic I’m afraid, (unless I can convince Northern Film and Media to shell out a couple of thousand to help me produce it  .) Nevertheless, I am enjoying the process so far. I will post up my premise and an outline in word format later if you want to read about my idea behind it - (I just have to write it first… :argh:  ) If I can get the animatic down to a respectible size, I will also post that up aswell.

Thanks for the support, and I hope I don’t disappoint a TW fan!!

@RK

Thanks. Remember to ask for extra padding for those teeth!! :stuck_out_tongue: Can’t wait for the workshop, I ordered an Intuos3 Art Marker to help with the experience, and make me use my Wacom for the whole period. I have no excuses now…

 Here’s to better digital painting RK!!

Becks

I had to order that book in from the ?good old? US of A. It should be arriving this week and in time for your course. I hope - that is what they told me via e-mail anyway… (I hope it isn’t like that last book, what a nightmare if that happens again…)

Mike,

Yep, I’m crossing my fingers for the successful delivery of your book, too…:)…if not, we’ll have to refund your money and send you packing…sad, really, but we have to do what we have to do…:wise:  :scream:
