“Ouch” - that was painful! ROFL…
MIKE
EDIT: Here is a skeleton I had to draw in life class. To be fair, it was not very “live,” but you have to work with what your given in art I suppose…

I did what RK suggested and tried a 2 minute, 5 minute and 15 minute pose - here are the results.

MIKE
Sweet, Mike! Your first 2 minute pose is definitely the best! See how much just putting in opposing curves can relay the form of the body economically? You don’t need any more for a viewer to understand what is going on in the pose. When you get to the shaded version, you kind of lose those opposing curves, and the effect of the form, while more SHADED, is actually FLATTER. I run into this problem all the time! It’s tough to carry out the spirit of the pose through to the end. It’s the challenge of any artist.
Keep at those 2 minute poses!

We will see if I can render better after I get those Scott Robertson DVD’s on form rendering for xmas!

Those Scott Robertson DVD’s are the very best source I have found for learning how to actually do industrial design. Having done a 4 year degree in ID at a cost of around $40,000 :banghead: , but learning a lot more from his 2 hour Industrial Design Bike rendering DVD costing $70  , I figure it is the way to go. :wise:
Thank you Scott Robertson, thank you…:bowdown::bowdown:
Cheers Erich!
MIKE
ahoy Mike> I’m liking your loomis heads, they’re well nice.
I also thought I’d back up what rebecca said about the two minute sketch- its way better than the other two>>> DO MORE. the second reminds me of a product render, the emphasis on the solid outline with uniform thickness flatens everything- dont do it.
GO MIKE:bounce:
Thanks for the tip Andy, one day I might be as good as you are…

Here are tonights Loomis drawing attempts -

MIKE
Mike,
To use your phrase, these are well impressive!
You’re really going great guns, keep up the good work!
Looking more to seeing more of these drawings…they’re great practice!

guess I deserved that… my last post was from Andy’s correctional institute of institutional correctness and was followed by a roundhouse kick to the head.
I think Loomis is a better target. I recon Copying his entire book will either lead to total brilliance or totall insanity … as yet I 'm not sure which. Anyway if its the latter we can always blame a certain ms Kimmel and punish her accordingly.
