Partly for fun, partly the start of a personal project I am thinking of working on. I’m thinking about blasting out a few pages of ideas and drawings, and then going for my first project in ZBrush - FULL ON!! lol…
Have you ever heard of a guy called Stuart Sumida? I have managed to secure a ticket for his workshop during next week’s Animex festival (http://www.animex.net/) in, “Anatomy and Animation.”. He is highly regarded by students I have talked to. It is a full day session, and I will post up my results that evening.
MIKE
Mike,
Just looked him up:

Looks fantastic! So that’s tomorrow? Definitely write us a report, can’t wait! :bounce:

The result of a mis-spent afternoon studying Neville Page’s “flesh” rendering DVD when I should be working on one of my numerous projects.

Hmmmm… meaty.
Off for lunch now, it was making me hungry.
MIKE
Don’t think Neville Page or Alex Alvarez would be too impressed if I did, do you? LOL…
MIKE ![]()
Mike,
WOW, those are so fantastic, it’s creepy! :applause: :applause: :applause: Really stunning work, Mike! So, hmm, what else will you be teaching in the Workshop?
Cheers,
~Rebeccak bowled over
Can you tell that I’m an ID’er by trade, and a wannabe artist - not the other way around, lol…
MIKE
Mike,
I don’t think that I would ever even remotely consider attaching ‘wannabe’ to your moniker in any way shape or form ~ you’ve proven to be a tremendously dedicated artist, and I wouldn’t underestimate that at all.
Cheers,
~Rebeccak
These are georgeous renderings! Are you saying it’s all 2d? :curious:
They looks so much like 3d it’s creepy.
I think I have to check that DVD out. Good to see someone else occupied with flesh
@Gunilla - Both are 100% photoshop renderings of flesh and eyes. As taught by Neville Page’s Gnomon DVD vol.3 and vol.4. It is the same “softbox” technique that Scott Robertson uses to render his bicycles, something that I will be adapting into other hard surfaced products in the coming days. Go to www.drawthrough.com to see Scott Robertsons renderings using this technique, or check out the DVD on how to do it - it is amazing!!
MIKE
Thanks - I definitely have to check that out… really cool.
You have some other nice things going here as well - so I’ll be back (you have now been warned :))
Beautiful eyes! Please, put me one green, two brown, and half a dozen of blue to make a salad:argh: :bounce:

Hi Mike,
congrats on making the cut for the Spotlight, well deserved.
Some great stuff in this thread. Just spent the last half an hour looking through it. The contextual studies work brought back some memories…
Loving your anatomical studies, just gorgeous.
Have subscribed to this thread, can’t wait to see some more inspirational stuff :applause:

hey Stu,
Good to see you on the boards mate!!
Thanks for the kind words…
Everyone is in awe of your baby head animation >>> can’t wait to see it finished. :applause: Did you and the guys make it to the PIXAR exhibition at the Science Museum? I did and it ROCKED!! I’m currently doing a CGWorkshop with Robin Cooper, who is a senior texture artist from there, and she had her work on display - she’s pretty damn good, (as you’d expect really, check out my portfolio link for some of the work done so far.)
Take care mate and see you at Uni.
