Sketchbook Thread of Cisc0

The result isn’t terrible Cisco.

Think positive: the result can be improved.

For instance, the cyan background part will be less overwhelming when it’s less saturated.
Shadows have colors too, think about that one
Looks like you’re working pretty fast. If so, slow down.
Think about each stroke in terms of tone, hue, shape and edge.

Dead ways are for quitters, and you’re not a quitter.
So in short: slow down, think positive but keep going

Hi Cisco

Here is a link to a guy who gets some really nice effects and end results out of ArtRage.
Check out his works if you have the chance to…Alot can be learned from him, just by studying his works…plus they are a great sorce of inspiration…I especally enjoy his still lifes.

Below is the link to his works

Take Care, and keep inspired…

thanks for the tips Johan and thanks for the link Glenn (those works are really interesting). Sometimes I need some encouragement because I feel a little bit “lost”: there’s so much to learn that I’ve some troubles in deciding where to start.
here we have two quick works just for relax:

“WE WANT YOU!”

#166

just an idea

You said you felt that you were dead in a way and repeating yourself, but your work still looks as unique as always. Your latest image is great.

Neat, reminds me of this comic strip: http://www.beaverandsteve.com/index.php?comic=2 (not in a very deep way, but it’s funny)

I have to say, this is quite a bit more spicy than I’d expect from a thread in an anatomy forum

Looks like you are doing really well. It’s the journey that counts, not the destination. I think that for your heads you can eyeball the proportions with your pencil and always try to remember those proportions for future reference?

Is that helpful? Otherwise…I’m happy for you, good luck. I like the figures you draw.

#170

Andrew: thanks man

Christer: yes that’s quite similar, but probably it’s more funny.
Glad to read your last sentence, but I also have the feeling that I should do more anatomic studies :curious:

Moneer: thank you. "It’s the journey that counts, not the destination": yes, that’s the point.
"I think that for your heads you can eyeball the proportions with your pencil and always try to remember those proportions for future reference?"… I’m not sure I understood this: you mean that I could use eye dimensions as a proportional rule?

Here is a quick sketch I would like to colour. but firt I’ve got a question: is it possible to save a picture maintaining the layers separated? Because when I save a picture with photoshop the layers are blended into one and then I can’t overwork as I would like to do

#171

With photoshop when you got to “Save As” you should be able to choose a “format” from a drop down menu that your image will be saved in. You need to save it as a PSD file in order to continue to use the layers that you have made. If you save it as anything else you will likely lose the layers as it will drop them to make a single image.

#172

ok I understood, thanks for the simple explanation Andrew

#173

here we have the WIP piece

#174

update

i’m quite satisfied, but the head rendering doesn’t convince me. I would like to obtain something more plastic and real looking, something like a wax mask, with better lights, etc… (and maybe the shadow colour is wrong)

#175

finished (probably)

#176

holy ****ing shit!

#177

ehm… may I help you? :wavey:

#178

:wavey: yes, I think you could help! post more drawings!

#179

I will
here we go…

You’re killin’ it Francesco!
