Hey I was thinking of you the other day at the academy, when my teacher showed me a book about Caravaggio. He bought it at an amazing exposition on Caravaggio’s work in Rome. It runs until June somewhere. My teach said he was simply blown away, so since you’re in Italy, if you get the chance, go there and absorbe everything you can man!
Here’s a link to more info
(I sooooo wanna go but my domestic situation makes it impossible :argh: )
edit: here’s a link to some really nice highres images from Caravaggio
They probably can’t beat standing in front of them though
.
edit 2: Here’s the official linkto the Scuderie del Quirinale, where the exposition is held.
yep Johan I heard about it… btw really thanks for the informations
. Looking at a master’s painting from real it’s always a particular experience
Here we have two quick works from school. They are the copies of 2 of my classmates:
Elena

and Caterina

You have a very unique style, really love your doodles; especially the see no evil, hear no evil and speak no evil. Your squarish doodles remind me of a modern take on mayan petroglyphs.
As far as your digital painting, start big and work small. Block out big shapes first with a base color, then refine and refine some more. Blocking smaller and smaller shapes. Once all major details are there blend them in. Easier said than done, no?
I’m glad you like my sketches Marcel! and also a friend of mine said the same thing about the mayan petroglyphs… so I’m thinking to take a look at them, for ispiration maybe.
yes… in traditional it’s quite easier for me to do that, but I’ll try to keep it in mind also for digital works. thanks for the attention mate
Cisc0 your style is pretty awesome, I don’t think I’ve seen anything like it before. The feelings of your sketches are really nice and a almost whimsical. I especially like the recent head sketches you did in post #96 and #98. Great work!
