Skeletor

I have to agree with the others, I’m not too fond of the mask idea either. It’s very imaginative, but the skull is his trademark, I’d say.

Great scultping work so far and very dynamic and expressive pose!

Here’s a few anatomical crits. Your biceps anatomy appears to be off. I have no idea where that muscle might be inserting on the upper end on your sculpt. It appears to be somewhere on the backside of the ribcage. In reality, the upper end for the long head runs on the front of the humerus past deltoid and pec insertions across the ball joint of the bone and then attaches on the upper part of the scapular side of the joint. The tendon actually enters the arcticular capsule anteriorly in a special bony notch. The short head attaches directly onto the coronioid process of the scapula, which is located in front of the shoulder joint. Hence the armpit region on your sculpt looks all wrong. Perhaps that description helps picture the anatomy more clearly. You are also missing the bicipital fascial attachment at the lower end, which runs toward the inside center of the forearm flexor group. Never mind these crits if your anatomy is supposed to be fictional.

Keep up the great work!

Cheers!

Hey Sam, very original take on Skele, looks more adult orientated in a horror sort of way  Lots of nice details. I think the skull mask and the hood would work very well but I suppose it would take away the idea that he has magical powers.

Good stuff

Hi Samual,

Genius idea with maturing the look of skeletors head (by still having a kull but with liitl flesh/muscle on top) without spoiling the original concept. imo I think you should defitely keep the plate mask on top it doesn’t hide any important details and shows that maybe its even keeping his his skull together!

beautiful zbrushing man, I looked at the program for the first tmie yesterday boy can I not get my head around the navigation controls :argh:

#24

It only takes a couple hours to get quite familiar with navigation. The problem, though, is going back

Your Skeletor is looking prety awesome. I agree, however, that giving him a fleshy head takes away from his essence, but who am I to talk about retaining essences; I’m modeling little ghouly smurfs!

Perhaps a solution would be to mostly leave his head more skull like, with the various muscles from his neck attatched to it, then the face mask covering the front. It would show that he does indeed have a skull for a head, but he’s crazy like Hanibal and is wearing someone’s face.

Hey,

Thanks for all your crits and comments,
Please keep them coming. As far as the head,
I’d been contemplating whether or not to use just the
floating skull or a real head but in the end I wanted to do
something original. I still have to create his exo-skeleton
mask that will cover half the face but I will do renders with
and without the mask.

TheRazorsEdge - Thanks for your crit. I usually sculpt in sections
and I haven’t touched any of the chest or back since I posed him, That’s
my next section so the bicep connection should make more sense after this
next pass.

#26

Alright,

Spent a couple hours working on the spine and defining the
arm a bit more. Going with the half exo-skeleton spine look.
Haven’t got to the hands yet, that’s next. I can’t think of
anything else to type.

#27

This looks like the entry to beat so far. Great job. Really liking your style.

#28

i really appreciate the concept … and i agree with earlier comments too that the skull is his trademark … but still this concept is innovative and a tough entry in the competition,
liking the details so far ,., gud luck …

#29

Wow! I love the details on the skin, and the anatomy looks right-on to me. The only thing that stuck out was the mucles on the back of the neck look a little skewed, but you mentioned you were working on the spine so I’m guessing you’re still sculpting it out.

Amazing work.
I think its nice sometimes to come away from the norm and create something different, after all its why we do what we do.

Your idea of a Skeletor without a skull is a good idea, different for sure but good.
I like creating alternatives to whats already out there, its puts a new dimension on things, ok, some people might not look at it and go “yeah thats skeletor” but who knows, someone might make a film and use the idea, who knows?

good work keep it up.
I am going to be learning Z-Brush in the very near future and hope that i can produce work like this as my background is in physical modelling.

#31

awesome man!

#32

I just noticed who his face looks like. It’s kinda similar to Skeletor from the movie. The way his skin looks so malformed. The mechanical bits are flowing seamlessly into the organic bits. Great concept.

#33

Alright, Thats a wrap for his body. I’m gonna
start on the armor pieces now, A lot of the body
will be covered up by armor but I modeled all the
under body pieces in case I get this printed. I changed
up the other arm as u can see. I wasn’t digging the
random rocky look so I went with a diseased arm look.
C&C Welcome.

#34

Been kinda busy, but heres a small update.
Gonna try to enter the dominance war this year
so i gotta manage my time. Crits and Comments Welcome!

#35

I do like a lot the concept you took from the original version to yours!
Great detail you got there and i love the overall look of it. Hope you got time to continue improving it as you desire.

Good luck!

#36

oh man…ony one reaction to this :buttrock: keep on going!

#37

Really digging the emblem on his chest!

#38
