Skateboard snow fx

#1

Hi,

Please help me with the skateboard snow fx,
I am using fume fx, but not getting the right result.

Thankyou

Show us what you’ve got so far and where you need to go so we can help

I am sending u the fume image and I m not getting the feel of snow. so help me out

If you want fuller looking clouds of thick snow/dust you need to set your density on the source helper to very high, like 1000 or so, then you will need to set the render opacity quite low, like 0.01, to render it properly.

What he said  Also, I’d emit from particles so there’s more control. Have in mind that you shouldn’t animate or parent the grid to the board or something - you better use a simple source to kill off temperature/smoke behind it, so the adaptive solver can cut the size of the grid.

Thankx guys,
let me write my condition, I used pflow as a source and since I m using baked animation file I used point helper and attached to the mesh and parent the pflow source to that point I just used plow to emit the particle .and used pflow as a emitter for fume but fume is not emitted from the pflow position. If I dont parent the pflow with the point than how can I cant get the same animation for pflow.

FFX should emit from the particles. Make your particles create from faces of the object or a proxy.

#8

Sorry for late reply bg is other projects… for snowboarding I used proxy as a emitter and used position object to emit the particle from selected faces…but while doin sim the fume doesnot emit from the emitter. I used different sorts of forces to give particle a motion as snow.
Give me some idea how fume works according to particles. I can control particles but fume is not workin as particles?

Are you using a Particle source? Check the radius in the source, if its too small it wont register in the fumeFX grid. my rule of thumb is make the particle size half the size of the voxels and make sure there are a lot of particles. You only need the particles to do the first 5% of the motion (the heavy snow) then fume should take over the rest and do the other 90%, lighter snow with a nice fluid dynamics feel.

hey thankz buddy.
But still stuck in the same problem. I tried to increase the radius in source but it look too much messy and If I decrease spacing I takes lot of time to simulate.

Is there any way to check the radius of fume in viewport ?

Yes, that is the fun of fume, to get anything looking good you need to have lots of ram/time! The best way I have found to preview particle size is to set your particle display to geometry and set the shape to sphere with the same size setting as your particle source. Obviously toy want ot turn this off/ hide it for rendering! Heaps and heaps of small particles with a small size (about 1/2 to 1/4 of the voxel size) will add up to break up the spherical feel of the bigger particles.
