Single Quadro K4000 or Dual AMD FirePro W5000?

I’m building a multipurpose 3D workstation. I will predominantly be using Maya, 3ds Max, Rhino, Photoshop, and After Effects. No gaming, and I don’t really use GPU rendering.

What would be better? A single Quadro K4000 or Dual AMD FirePro W5000’s (or V5900’s)?

Neither, if you don’t use GPU rendering a dual videocard is largely pointless, and the k4k is overpriced for its power/resources.
A 770/780 or a Titan are much better bang for buck if you can’t stretch your budget to a k6000 (or a k5k if you have legitimate reason to need a quadro, which none of the apps listed really needs for much these days).

Thanks. Unfortunately for this build, those options aren’t available. A K5000 is available, but for an extra $760. If the K4000 is overpriced, I could go with the K2000 and save a couple hundred bucks.

Now let me ask you this, I said no GPU rendering and no gaming, but let’s say I did want to use GPU rendering. Would one of them be a better option then? And then I know neither are gaming cards, but would either be better suited for that?

Basically, I’m just looking for some reason to get one over the other.

I’d probably shoot for trying a single AMD w5000 among the ones listed just because the k4000 costs twice as much and isn’t worth double the price over the AMD card. I’d normally always go for nvidia, but lately the AMD’s cards have been actually working fairly correctly with 3d apps. The w5000 only having 2 gigs of memory is a turn off though
