Simple tree issue

#1

this is probably a dumb thing that i cant get to work on mac…

all i want, is a tree like this:

See, PAINT on top, video on the bottom, both children of the Composite

Only no matter what i click to add paint, text, particles etc, itll either make it a child of the video, OR, itll make it go outside the “Branch Composite” and start its own

That pic is from a windows machine, something i did awhile back

im trying to do this now on a mac, combustion 3, 3 button mouse…and its just simply not happening

thanks in advance, excuse my ignorance

nevermind got past that, now if i could only make particle backrounds transparent life would be easier!

Just add a particle operator on top of the footage (like the paint op in your screenshot). Put a selection operator between the footage and the particle op to mask the particles if needed. Maybe you want to add an invert seletion op on top of the selection op to invert the masking effect.

i got it. on windows if you right click in a right spot, it would add it just above the footage, but on mac you have to Add layer

and then in particles footage, i turned off the backround color, and it shows through, just takes it a bit to render onscreen because i use the duplicated particles for light FX on gunshots
