Shrinking/Scaling a specific area?

#1

I modeled the head on this character a little to large. Is there a way to simply select and shrink the area? I am good with modeling and very good with Photoshop, but this is the first thing I’ve ever really sculpted so I’m having trouble familiarizing myself with the tools.

mask the body and leave the head UN-masked
then Blur the mask a few time then on top press SCALE
this will bring up the transpose tool,
place the end of the tanspose line on the nose then flip the model so you can see the top of the head and then move the hole line to the middle top of the head,
now face it forward and SCALE.
once you scale you may need to press MOVE next to scale when your done.
then clear mask and use the smooth brush where the mask ended.

Also, try not to advance through your subdivision levels too soon. Your model is displaying a level of lumpiness that is prevalent with going through the subdivision levels too soon. You want to take your time working the lower levels to move and smooth out your mesh before you subdivide.

“Generally” you should be spending most of your time refining the large shapes of your mesh before getting to the details which is about the last 15% of your project.

If you want to fix it, go back through the levels and do some smoothing all the way up to the highest level and it will look much smoother and less lumpy.
