Shrink Wrap for animation?

#1

Hi guys,
Do you know if it’s possible to make Shrink Wrap modifier work when using an animated object?
Let me explain better: the typical situation where you use a low rez version of a cloth object to run the simulation on and then you would like to use this low rez object to drive a more complex one. It works perfectly in 3dsmax (at least 5 years ago it did  ) but I don’t find a way to make this work in XSI.
I tried with a simple plane that has cloth simulation that should drive a very thick box but the results weren’t what I expected and completely unusable.

Any idea?
Thanks,
Adrian

the shrink wrap modifier in xsi isnt what ur looking for.
the one u want to use is Cage Deformer.
works the same as what u describe, or like the wrap deformer in maya.
the shrink wrap in xsi projects one objects vertices onto another using different algorithms.
the cage deformer is the one that has the ability to drive one objects deformations
based on another.

When you shrinkwrap using the Closest Surface option, you can use an unanimated version of the lo-res object as a reference. When applying the shrinkwrap, pick the reference object when you get the “Inner Object” prompt.

just to add… 3ds max shrinkwrap is the most ****ed up tool Ive even worked with. and its nowhere perfect
