Shotgun + compositing question

#1

Hi,

I am new to the VFX industry and I was told to learn shotgun for my first gig.
I am new to Nuke compositing and I usually just do it by myself of my PC. I was wondering if people that know about shotgun can tell me if the assets and file I am used to have on my PC will come from shotgun or if shotgun is just a project management software for VFX? What should I learn of shotgun?
I tried to watch some of shotgun’s videos online but I am very confused
Thanks!

It’s rare that shotgun is used for asset management - it’s usually just project management (publishing versions, getting notes and annotations, etc).
Just learn how to check your tasks, notes, how to publish, etc… That’s probably what you’ll be using it for most of the time. The rest will come as you play around with it.
