shortcuts on tablet

#1

Hi, I am wondering if its possible to asign any of the wacom intuos3 “quick buttons” to certain tools in painter, rather then alt, ctrl etc. I want to be ablt to quickly rotate my canvas withouth having to reach for my keyboard…yea I know im a lazy bastard, but I like painting with the tablet in my lap.
You can assign the quick buttons to be mouse button 3 and 4 but is there anywhere in painter you can assign rotate to be mouse button 3 or 4?

If I’m correct the shortcut to that tool is Ctrl+Space (PC), assign your button to that, or assign one to Ctrl and the other to [space]… and rotate per usual with your pen.

Hope this helps.

Nearly, it’s actually Alt+Space. The default keys on the tablet obviously have Alt and Space already assigned therefore there’s no need to change anything, just hold them down and rotate. Incidentally, this only works properly with the latest Wacom driver, earlier ones presented problems.

I don’t know about assigning buttons to the mouse but I would never do it as I use the grip pen for painting!

actually if you prell alt-space you zoom in by default. I changed it to rotate but when it changed tool into rotate it didnt change back to the brush, So I had to asign another shortcut on my tablet to brush.
In the end I noticed a new possibility, to change the left touchstrip to act as key, if I scroll down it changes to a brush and up into rotate tool. The right touchstrip is for zooming in.

Spacebar + Alt (in that order) gives you Rotate Canvas, whether on the keyboard or the tablet.

oh yes, right you are; silly me!
Thanks a lot!

Why can’t you use Shift in the keystroke option?

#8

Maybe because it is already assigned to one of the shortcut buttons, so you can just use that instead? if thats not assigned for something else…in which case that something else could be assigned as a keystroke and the botton assigned back to shift…ah Im confusing myself now!
