I have finished the first Pass (WIP) for the Taxi Cab assignment 11.
I’ve done the LipSync so please feel free to leave you C&C on that…

Members with FTP Scene 2 privileges can also find omarhib’s blast file here:

/Pygmalion/2_CoventGarden/Animation/5_AngelCourt/Tests

Can you start the sequence with the hat touching the roof? Perhaps at an angle. Then it moves up in the air with the vertical stretch and slowly floats down again. I like the eye motions.

We will have to be careful about continuity of the hat position when we put these assignments together.

Hey there… I was wondering how the Englishman Rig was coming… This is going to definately be a crunch time. Gotta love them. Anyway… I am ready. Peace!

Well, I found some time to work on the static background. Still need some work however, I think I am done with my 12 hr days at work and will have more free time again for painting!

Dark3D - simply gorgeous

Hi.
I have had some more time to animate. I added a lattice defromer just to push it a little more. Thanks for any comments and crits.

Taxi Cab WIP 2

I still have to put in some loops and have him sitting there for a while before he takes off after his line.

Maronson
great point about the hat position. What do you think about this?
everyone on the taxi just post your Tranlate XYZ and Rotate XYZ. Then who ever has the next scene just needs to plug in the numbers to start the next scene.

End of Shot 41 ( I may be doing 42-43 too)
Translate X = 0
Translate Y = 0
Translate Z = 0
Rotate X = 6.5
Rotate Y = 0
Rotate Z = -22.762

omarhib
hey I looked at your anaimtion earlier and can’t check it out now to crit anything. I will check it out again tomorrow. Off to a nice start.

Great Stuff Dark3d!!
Lookin good.

Dark3D: nice BG… looking great. can’t wait to see the next WIP

Wilson 3D: your animation is looking great… really cool stuff. & looking forward to your crits…

Cheers,

Hey omarhib, Lookin good. This may be stuff you are already planning on getting to but here goes.

I really like the eye movemnet and the double blink is nice. looks like you may want to be careful about the brows intersecting the eyes but you probably have not got to that yet.

When the off camera voice says “Ah Shillsing…” and he changes expression. It looks like you have the squash hit first with I like but you may be able to push it more if you then have the brows hit the down pose and then the hat. so they are all hitting a few frames apart.
Nice work. He has got some real personality in the shot.

Wilson 3d: Very active squash and stretch. It’s enjoyable to watch. The entrance and exit blocking are just right. That is a good idea about recording the last position of the hat.

omarhib: Now that I see what Wilson3d did, I see that the hat floating above the roof can work well. I still think that the hat at an angle looks better when it is off the roof.

Good Work, you two!

Dark3D: That is going to look super when we drive the Taxicab through that background.

Problems with two models. We still have two heavy weight models, George B Shaw and The Englishman. I just got word from Loulu79 that she has been secretly working on cleaning up the Englishman model. There is a MAX modeler that I am communicating with that could do the finish work on the Englishman. The Englishman doesn’t walk but he does have lines. Omega3d: are there any shortcut plug ins available for MAX that can approximate lip sync?

For GBS we still have Wilson3d’s idea

Is there anyone available to do that? (Put your hand down Lou Ann, you are too busy!)

The meeting with the board went well yesterday. I brought in a demo reel with jpgs and avi’s. I displayed some on a lap top and left the disk with them to pass around and view later. It was the first time I was able to show them your work. They thought you were all very creative. I turned in a press release about the Art show which opens on March 1st. We have 15 pieces ready to mount and of course I am hoping we will get several more turned in before that date.

Admiral Ra: has posted a rigged version of the Scene Three Limousine that takes Eliza to the Ambassador’s Ball.

If you want to evaluate it for him and you have scene three privileges you will find the rigged Maya Model in .ma form in this archive:

I’ve completed the Englishman…finally and the last thing I want to do is finish up that animation of CGL…I’ve gone way overboard now…thank you Maronson for pointing that out! Haven’t slept even because of me nursing the poor Englishman. Had to clean him up and make more sense out of him from top to bottom!

Here’s the BIG difference:

Before…

After…

Old model…

New model…

SEe the difference…now let me see if I can survive during the day…and then get some zzzzzzzzz before I continue with animation…

Edit: That goes to show you I need some zzzzzz’s because I wanted to announce: I have Englishman already on the FTP in:
1_Preface/Characters/Englishman/Remodeled_Englishman.zip

He’s both formated as an ascii (.ma version) and an obj format…I hope that’s convenient for everyone.

#872

nice job!

#873

Awesom. So once you catch some zzz’s did you say you were animating? Or are you part of the ani team? Thats cool… Good luck on the day.

Thanks Omega and Mirabeau.

Well…I’m not clear w/ what you meant…you mean at work or this project. Well the answer to that is: continue with animating CGL (Convent Garden Liza)…I’ve already done her facial expressions…now I have to finish animating her entire body…

And speaking of her entire body…does anybody here know how to help Jamie:

He already did the rig of CGL. In 7.0. And cannot convert it to an ascii due to the complications in the rigging.

I gave him three ideas as to how to go about solving this dilemma:

  1. go into the file’s scripting and wherever it says 7.0 type in 6.0/6.5…
  2. Unskin CGL and export the rig and paint weights into the original model of CGL (the model before being rigged)…then save this as an .ma. With paint weights…Jamie doesn’t have to redo. All he has to do is copy and paste the original paint weights…onto the new one…
  3. The other idea which I just thought about it today…is to unskin…get rid of the rigged CGL…and save ONLY the rig (he also has to first save his paint weights by exporting)…then see if he can save it as an ascii.

What do the rest of you guys think?
Any other ideas as to help Jamie?

#875

hey everyone. looks like i’m gonna be animating a couple shots on this project in my spare time at home. just thought i’d say hi.

#876

Capel: Welcome to the Project! We all look forward to working with you and seeing your first WIP.

Loulu79: Flying-Hawk and Omega3d seem to think your make over of the Englishman will get us to the next step. I’m looking for a Max3D rigger for it.

And speaking of rigs, Admiral Ra has started working on the rig for the Fancy Lady.

#877

hey everybody, long time no post

first off, i’d like to say that everything looks great so far, some of these peices are truly humbling.

secondly, i need some help.

recently Mike asked me if i could finish off the rig for Col. Pickering that Burkester started. when i looked at the file it seemed like it just need to be bound and waited, so i figured i could do it. however, as i am not a rigger, and have only ever done basic skeletons, i don’t feel that i’ll be able to do the job in an acceptable amount of time.

i’ve tried to contact Burkester to try and figure out what to do, but my e-mail was returned un-opened:sad:

so basically, what i (actually we) need is an experienced rigger to quickly finish the job so that the Col.'s animator can get started.

the maya scene file is unfortunatly to big to attach here, but if you think you might be able to help let me know and i’ll msn it to you or something

thanks in advance
Scudz

Thanks for all the great comments everyone!

Well here is my submission for the Covent Gardens Court (Night) Static Background.

FINAL HI-RES IMAGE

#879

Scudz Almighty: Ok I’m on it. Let me try and find someone to do the rig.

Dark3D: I am sure the compositors will enjoy posing characters in front of your painting. Thank you for your contribution. Would you like to do one more? I have reference art for Angel Court, the street where Liza lives. Let me know.

#880

Just to let you know… I started the rig (of the Englishman), all of the bones are in place… The IK is there, we do not need a foot rig, and the fingers need to be rigged… As well as the face… All of the other stuff is ready to go… So it is mostly skinning. It is on the FTP site.
