I didn’t know those things were so lovable, especially with that big
machine gun at the front LOL:scream:
I really like the effect on the lenses .
What program did you use for the rigging set up ?
How did the idea come about for that clip …
So what’s next in line for that little fella ?
Well I’ll stay tuned in.
Great work !
Thanks Omar.
The Fuchi character is unusual, but that’s the original gist of Shirow’s fuchi personality. They can blow something up and then clap their hands giggling like a little kid.
So happy you caught the detail on the lens in that mid rez clip :bounce: …put a fair bit of extra tweaks into that to make it subtely pop and draw the viewers eye.
*Also need to credit Jaques^T …I was only adding to his great shader.
< hope he likes it too
The Skeleton and skinning (weights) were all setup in LightWave (thanks to Colkai for giving me help with bone rotation issues that I couldn’t fix for lack of proper tools in my old version of LW.)
The setup then went to MotionBuilder and Donshole did a massive constraints/relations setup that allows realtime/layers animation via mouse and keyboard. Donshole can fill in the tech end of the MB setup.
*Stay tuned for an upcoming release we have planned…it will show a bit more of the mind blowing complexity to Donsholes setup. :wip:
The idea came about firstly becasue of the fuchi personality that Shirow created. :buttrock:
Second I guess would be the fact that Dogma created that bent door…had to tie that in. :)…and the fuchi rig looked cool when it jumped around. So jumping through the door and eventually bending it kinda set the stage. The rest went like most of our stuff, it gets developed around whatever we have handy.
What’s next? hmmm…good question
This clip was meant to be a proof of concept, and i think we hit that 100% . GO TEAM!
We also have most of our assets (models/texture/sound) ready, and have what I think is a surprisingly excellent script, that includes multiple Fuchi’s!
… what’s next is mostly up to how much endurance we have.
Really appreciate you dropping in.
Haha lovely, You guys are insane hehe :D. Really really nice work.
did you guys do the animation in motionbuilder or did you build the constraints parts etc in motionbuilder then exported it to LW and animated it in there?
(didnt got that part of ur explanation)
Really nice work
cheers
jozef
heheh…thanks Josef.
Fuchi animation was done in MotionBuilder by Donshole.
Camera movements etc done LW.
The fuchi clip as it’s been called for the last 15-16 months is done! There isn’t much I can add on the technical side except that the realtime setup in Motionbuilder really made working on the animation a whole load easier.
The bottom line is that collabs work!
.
Msaber- Thanks for letting us know you liked it.
Donshole- heheh…I know I already bugged you via MSN…but if I recall…most of that 1yr+ was dedicated to the MB reltime control setup and animation…there’s gotta be something more to say?

Someday you gotta give us some of the details, trial and tribulations…I wanna hear the gut wrenching stuff too, cause I’ve seen the control nodes and I’m positive it wasn’t a walk in the park to program. :wip:

Also- wanted to post a few comments the CLIP received at another forum>
“That’s just too cool and too funny!”
“Hahahah…awesome
You nailed that Ghost in the Shell feel right on the money! :)”
“I love the voice!! :)”
“Very nice. The voice of the fuchi is excellent and the over all feel was excellent.”

**After seeing Omar’s mech…
started work on some better steel textures for some of our ships etc >
Hola guys!
Sorry I’ve not been around, but things are “interesting” for me at the moment.
Got to say, FECK! great work on this clip, much kudos to donShole and SD, I know how much hard work has gone into the rig and animation setup.
It’s paid off though, big time, I’ve shown this to a couple of people who don’t realise (until I tell them) that it is not from a DVD/film but made by members of the project. That in itself I think, speaks volumes.
SD, you always believed we could reach this level, you must be proud!
:applause: :applause: :applause:
Thanks Colkai. Hope things start working a bit easier for you…sooon! < you had a rough time the last couple years, so it’s gotta get batter eventually. Makes the stuff you still do for the project even more appreciated. :buttrock:
It’s great that the people you were showing had that reaction. Thanks for sharing that
I think that is AWESOME
personally i think it should be on the front page, as a demo of what colabs are all about, but thats just me
love it
Hi Guys.
heheh…might need to bribe some mods before that would happen.
Thanks saying it though.
I agree, I think I will send a PM to a MOD or 2 with a link to that “Fuchi” post.
Did you post that clip in the finished animation section too ?
I would also like to see a video demo of how the real time rig works, is it really
animated in real time like a video game !?!?!? By any means it’s still kool
I have to say, I am rather dissapointed this hasn’t made front page and I can’t understand why.
