#5163

Thanks guys!
Hiya doing Victor! Hope all is well.

I just finished the actual target that goes at the end of the bay I will probably add one to the floor debris also.

#5164

Yep, looking real good sllink.

soft distortion
So what secret plans are you scheming on behind
the scenes with your new super computer ?

Your old system sounds exactly like my old system,
Now it is just a node on my wanna be render farm.
Hope you worked out the bugs on the new one.

Keep truckin’ guys …

#5165

Thanks for dropping in BOY1DA.
I want to show progress WIPs…honest…soon…soon.
Did sort out the new machine issues- after 2 other low end CPU coolers, finally got a Zalman and it does the job. The rest was getting multiple vid card setup to work properly.

Something anyone else using MotionBuilder might be interested in. NVIDIA 7950GT cards and anything else using newer NVIDIA drivers will not be usable with MB. I now know of atleast 3 other people who are using this card and are unable to use MB! :hmm:

#5166

Oh boy, that’s class, another MB limitation.

Meanwhile, I think my PC has come out in sympathy as it’s been dying a lot on me, I think I’ve isolated it to a memory module that’s gone up the Swanney but alas, this leaves me with half my memory as things are very tight at present.
Still, providing all my scenes are under 100Mb I should be fine, I get by on less on my works PC.

Computers, urrgh. :banghead:

#5167

hehe, yeah…the validated cards are all high end…it’s our fault for using MB on game cards.

100 megs?..you’re so retro cool Colkai.

#5168

Aye, max memory on my PC is now a mere 512Mb so by the time everything is running, I have to be careful.

I can no longer load the Moonbase scene from the LW8 I use as a benchmark for tests as it ends up spooling to pagefile, which pushed a 70 second render up to 6 minutes - EEK!

#5169

UPDATE- The team forum is being put back online for public use - after a security update …hopefully the hackers are tired of waiting by now anyways.

Sorry to all the people who actually made use of the forum via the tutorials etc…enjoy before we get hacked again.

#5173

Hi Jayreef.
Thanks for stopping in.

#5174

Ahh gorramn it, now see, the history is so out of date I’m gonna have to sort that out! :banghead: :stuck_out_tongue:

I’ll make sure I’m up to date with the thread first, then wade through and bring hte history more up to our current timeline. :wip:

#5175

That would be greeeat Colkai!

#5176

I added some ā€œmultipass compositingā€ info to the public tut section-some might find it interesting.

#5177

More Multipass info added to the team forum…progressed to layers with passes…sparked an interesting idea for fuchi stealth mode fx.

More info and larger image in the FORUM

#5178

Me likey … just a thought, if you slapped a fresnel effect on that so it was a little more opaque on the edges, I think it may look cool, or surround it with a low-res proxy of the body with ā€œheat-distortionsā€ on it to make it look ā€˜hazy’.

Either way - neat.

EDIT: Doh, ignore me - I didn’t look close enough! :stuck_out_tongue:

#5179
