Shirow Project Book#3 Side-Mission

#4841

Ok,
Test walk cycle created. As it turns out, I didn’t bother with scaling as that brought it’s own problems. Using offsets did allow me to tweak the animation of the inner arms to compensate for the large ‘thigh sections’.

Have uploaded the following files to my FTP area;

LW_Eswat_LandMate_CkhRev_030706.rar
… Revised Model and Rig scene which was used to export to MB.

MB_Eswat_LandMate_CkhRev_030706.rar
… Motionbuilder character with constraints, plus a walk-test FBX file and associated ‘fbm’ area.

MOV_Eswat_LandMate_CkhRev_030706.rar
… Resulting render from above motion test

If I get time over the next day, I’m going to look into the fake pilot / multi-character methodology in case there are situations that may call for it.

I’ve tweaked the surface of the suit in MB, simply to make it easier for me to “read” with my tired old eyes. Obviously, it has no bearing as it will be textured and final rendered in LW anyway.

#4842

a anigif from Colkai’s rig .mov

Nice job Colkai.
Is the MB FBX file setup to merge with the LW scene?

#4843

Good work Colkai:buttrock:.

#4844

Haa ha haaaaaaaaaaaa! Thats too cool. Now I remember why we are a great team. Excellent work Colkai!

#4845

Nice animation:thumbsup: .

Well, I made one little modification to the ESwat model that the refrence picture had (the sleeves). Took a bit longer then expected to finish up the model. I think I finished, but if there’s anything you’d like me to fix/change/etc. Let me know  .

Current Status:
Full Body Shot
Head

SD - I uploaded the model. If you see anything that might need fixing, let me know.

#4846

Thanks Team.
I’m going to look at other options as I said, including doing nothing in MB and just setting up stuff in LW. Mainly so I personally have a clear picture of things as doing this sort of rig once or twice isn’t enough to make it really click.

(It took me a while to recall how to ‘set value’ in consrtaints, I musta tried every key combo going :banghead: :stuck_out_tongue: )

Anyhoo, going to do some more tests to see how it sits, might be fun to drop the GMan motions onto this and see how it reacts. Yeah, I know, I’m not sane. :argh:

#4847

double post

#4848

SD – is there a complete asset list and requested list posted somewhere? Or is that all being managed behind the scenes.

If there was a list, with say radio buttons or something to signify that they’re being worked on, then anyone could jump in and simply start modeling on the next object. To keep the flow of assests going, I’d say that is something is marked off as being worked on by someone, then that someone would have to post a render of it (or whatever stage it is at) at the end of the week, or the model subject becomes open season again.

Of course, I have no idea how to set something like that up… just a thought.

Also, this is LW with Motionbuilder right? Any other apps being used that I should try and optimize for?

Cheers,
AJE

#4849

Ace- ok, got it and it looks good so far after a quick check over.

AJE- I love that suggestion, and we had something like that set up, but almost no one used it so I have been managing it all manually.
There are still lots of things that could be modeled, but they are more in the area of complex peices like characters etc…there is a set that Colkai was thinking of re-doing, but he may be too busy on Animation for the next bit…so if he says ok, you can do it if you like. Only one ref though, so you have to improvise.

Image is attached. The set is a mecha “Suit Bay”

#4850

If AJE wants to do the suit bay, might be an idea to give him an OBJ of the LWO files (assuming he doesn’t use LW), so he can use it as a rough ref maybe?

#4851

LW or Maya… whatever

If you have an earlier version of this, that’d be helpful. Also, if you have the 'bot in the bay as it is in the picture (all retracted/folded up) as a single, solid model (not rigged, no textures), that might help me for sizing, etc…

I still don’t have internet at home (new house… which is beginning to become a problem for communication).

But if you post anything, I’ll throw it on a flash drive and try and hammer something out for you guys.

Cheers,
AJE

#4852

This guy is eventually going into the dock scene so he will be getting stylized photoreal textures. For now I did a Cellshade version with some mocap (he’s running away from a bomb he failed to disarm :D) to say I appreciate Ace sticking to it on this model.
Kudos Ace

AJE- I looked at the old model we have and it just isn’t doing it…so I’m thinking- either I send it to you and let it bias your path or I don’t send it and let you do your own untainted rendition… after looking at your website and what you modeled…I’m pretty sure you can do better without the old version messing you up.

#4853

Heh, HE LIVES! Nice job SD. Can’t wait to see what finally awaits him:bounce: .

#4854

SD-I think this model is done. I will upload as soon as I can.

#4855

Well, I won’t be joining you for a bit.

I had my ZX9R parked outside of work, and someone hit it with their truck, destroying the right side. Then they stood it up (incorrectly) and it fell onto its left side, destroying that too.

So, I now have a really ugly chunk of metal and fibreglass.

I DID find the guy who did it… and he admitted to doing it, so I expect things to go smoothly… but you never know. I think he’s expecting a $500 bill… it’ll be closer to $5500 if they do end up writing it off.

Arg! The more I type, the more pissed I’m getting.

Why do the smallest of people need to drive the biggest of trucks!?

Needless to say, I’m gonna have to get this sorted out ASAP (have a bike trip planned – and now no bike).

AJE

#4856

  - Aww man, my sympathies

Arg! The more I type, the more pissed I’m getting.

I’d be beside myself if that had happened to my bike, it was bad enough some lame-a** hitting me and duffing my bike up, but to come out of work and see that Arrgghh.

As as recently ex-biker, you have my full and deepest sympathies, it’s like losing a limb isn’t it?

#4857

thanks man…

All I can say is that I am glad I wasn’t on it. I’ll take someone hitting it in a parking lot over hitting it with me on it any day.

It looks like insurance will replace/compensate me for it… but I’m sure half the riding season will be over by the time I get another one.

At any rate… I don’t want to vent in Team Shirow’s thread.

Talk to you guys in a bit…

#4858

Alas, each time one of my bikes was damaged, I was on it. :frowning:

Anyhoo, onto matters Shirow
Just to let y’all know, I’m working on the GMAN again, editing some geometry, (the hands for example as the fingers didn’t have proper ‘joints’ which would handle deformation).

Building the high, low and ‘blocky’ versions into one object all set up the same to a rig in the same object. That way, we can just choose which mesh layer to use and keep everything in one place.

This said, I am hakwing this weekend so as of tomorrow night I won’t get any stuff done before next week. I’ll do a bit more tonight and work on it at lunch tomorrow and hopefully have something constructive to show you guys and gals before the next week is out.

My plan once this is done is to have the LandMate and G-Man going through the same motion in a clip to show the results.

#4859

Thanks guys. Hope everyone has a good weekend.

#4860

Hey Team, good to see all these updates. I finally have one of my own:wip: . SD, you’ll find a file called “Shirowproject_Fuchi_intro_pass2”(approx 6 mb wmv - divx wouldn’t dance with and I don’t know why) in the FuchiTestAnims folder in my ftp area. Ah, it’s good to be back:) .
[Edit] Pass 3 will hopefully be the last, with animation for the grips and fixes to some of the strange mb interpolation + whatever else you want to add [Edit]
