shadow matte

#1

I’m little confused with arnold shadow matte shader.
Everything looks ok, but the moment I map photo to camera environment poly plane stays visible?
What am I missing?

I too am having that problem

For me, it seems like a bug. un-ticking the opaque box does nothing.

I’ve emailed support@solidangle… but from the auto reply it sounds like they’ve gone on holiday!

Keep us posted if you find a solution

edit: ai shadow matte shader :- for google

Uncheck Opacity flag on polyShape\Arnold.

#4

I can’t find it, there is no opacity flag.

#5

i’m sorry I meant Opaque flag

#6

Anyway a bug is there to me! Traina to adding a projection map cMera mapping, it doesn’t work

#7

I think this is a bug. I try everything but it did not.
Geos are visible always.
I post an email to solidangle about this situation.
I hope they solve this problem soon.

Using Domelight the matte shadow work, but not with projection mapping on grounMatte it won’t work.

#9

This problem has been resolved in the new version.

#10

Is it working for you, I think I have the same problem.

#11

Yes it works. Result of the render sequences are correct. Alpha has opacity in Arnold 2.0.0.1.

#12

Hi,

The alpha is correct but the reflection are all wrong. The shadow matte catch the SkyDomeLight not the image_plane when you have one.
Can someone confirm the issue ?

Cheers,

B.

#13

Hi, just thought I’d let you know that I contacted Solid Angle about this and they said they are aware of this bug. Never mentioned a fix anytime soon unfortunately.

#14

I have exactly same problem… what the… my god…
When will this solve the problem?

#15

i have exactly same problem… opacue enabled and set background type as image plane, but The shadow matte projects the background of the sky dome light.

#16

So…, any news on this one?.

This is what I wanted to do (it worked that way with Mental Ray):
Put an image plane on the camera so it appears as baground
Put a plane with matteshadow so it disappears and catch the shadows of the rest of the objects
Put a skydome light with HDRI image on it so it lights the scene.
The skydome appears as background too, so I thought to put at zero the camera attribute, so it dessapears from the eye rays
But then the reflection of the matte shadow object appears as BLACK on the reflections of the other objects!

Any help?.
Thanks.

It appears this still has not been resolved XD Jesus christ. So has all the professionals who actually need this for renders, have had big black reflections in there renders??? I cant believe that… am i just missing something. Because the opaque option does nothing! Even though it says thats all you need to do on there site.
