Maybe I’m old fashioned but I notice that a lot of folks use sfx to describe what they are doing. I suppose that means Special Effects? In hollywood SFX means Sound Effects. VFX is the more appropriate term out this way. We even have division between Special Effects and Visual Effects. Special effects usually means things down in camera such as pyrotechnics or wire rigs. A special effects person usually sets that sort of thing up and a visual effects person deals with the imagery. Not that there isn’t cross polenation just that this seems to be the way things are divided.
