Severe Camera Distoration (Colums)

#1

Hello,

I am currently trying to track a shot using SynthEyex64 2011.

The shot consists of a of a camera pan from RIGHT to LEFT similar to this picture: http://fc00.deviantart.net/fs30/f/2008/082/9/7/Greek_Columns_by_krissy.jpg

PROBLEM:

As the camera pans, the columns closest to camera distort substantially. When I bring the track data into Maya and attempt to place geometry, it looses alignment as the shot moves from RIGHT to LEFT.

Any input on how to resolve this issue??

Prior to tracking, you’ll need to undistort. I don’t recall if SynthEyes can do that itself (probably), but I know you can do it in After Effects. Remember that you’ll need to use the undistorted footage in Maya, also.

Once you have your CG elements, you can either distort them to match the plate or use the undistorted plate and crop it.
