Settings for Painter movie - projection

#1

Hello

I’m new here.

Wondering what resolution (dpi) folks recommend I set a Painter movie at?

Making 12- 24 Frame loops, 1280 x 800 (widescreen) for theatre projection.

Thank you for your thoughts.

Judgeworks, dpi is for printing and irrelevant for a movie. If you set it to 1280 x 800 pixels , here you go, done.

The correct term for digital art is PPI, or pixels per inch.

True. But for movies dpi are irrelevant as well.

Thanks. I do set the movie dimensions for 1280 x 800 but it still has a window to choose PPI.
Is 72 ppi ok for theater projection? Or would I need to go to higher ppi?

Once more time, forget about the ppi. 1280 x 800 pixels is a fixed size. PPI won´t affect for a video format.
If you had a 15x 10 inches canvas then the ppi would be determinant.

I understand.

It’s confusing because if the ppi were irrelevant then why does Painter even bother to give me the option to choose the ppi for the movie. But then again it’s not a standard movie program, it’s for painting still images. So it must be just a mistake Painter made.

Thanks

It´s not a Painter bug.
Try it under Photoshop and the ppi resolution option is still there , even when you pick pixels instead of inches. In the presets for movies you will find 72 ppi but it just will affect you when inches are chosen.
But it´s confusing, certainly.
