server won't render, graphic card issue?

#1

Hi ,

Since the we installed Maya SP5 ext 1 on the server it does not render correct any more.
As soon as we press render then maya crashes, when we render by right clicking on a file and say render, we get a greenish layer over the renders.
As we all know they changed up the color management. ( hate this change but that doesnt matter) I think it has something to do with that, the options for the color management are visable for 5 sec in the perspective view and then they disapear.
When we start Maya on the server we get this message:
// Warning: Viewport 2.0 is not supported by your current graphics configuration or graphics driver version.
The application is reverting to the legacy default viewport, please correct your graphics configuration or set the “Default viewport” preference to “Legacy Default Viewport” to prevent this error from recurring. //

The videocard in there is a ATI ES1000, this is a basic card can this be the problem?
does any one else have troubles with rendering on a server with the colormanagement?

Does the card support dx11?
and is the maya opening the file set up to support dx11?

seems thats the issue and not the col management.

man I hate vp2

#3

just looked it up. that gpu only supports dx6

#4

At the moment the IT department is changing the card. I actualy dont know what they are putting in at the moment.

we had a similar issue at a place I worked before.

We ended up just sending dx11 dependent jobs to machines slaved to the farm in a dx11 group. they were all just un used artist machines or logged out machines of the same

seems the dependency like to travel a bit and we needed to get stuff going quickly. no time to strip it from files properly.

we were just caching too…

also thats just a guess from what you posted

maybe you could try directing it to a dx11 compatible machine to see if it works first?

well on all our workstations it works perfectly but not on the server.
When we set a batch in maya it works all fine.
When we right click on the .mb file and choose render we get a greenish look
When we do a single render in maya, maya crashes.

for now I m waiting for the IT to be ready and see what happend.
