Senior Character Modeler

Senior artists at Harmonix enjoy spending most of their day creating art in their specific field of expertise. They work in a flexible, highly functioning setting and have major input into the look and feel of our games. Harmonix Senior artists are self-starting, creative individuals that help streamline the production process and continuously push the boundaries of our graphical look. Senior artists interact with the Senior Production artists on a daily basis in a nurturing, productive way to create the innovative games for which Harmonix is known.

Responsibilities

  • Create amazing high poly character models with refined texture maps in 3D Studio Max and Z Brush
  • Establish next generation character production based on proven next gen game experience
  • Work quickly and effectively and contribute to character team progress
  • Interface with other artists including the Lead, Production and Technical artists
  • Work with Producers to keep the game on track and stress free
  • Coordinate outsourced assets and communications with outsource company/companies
  • Share your skills with other character modelers and technical artists

Qualifications

  • 3+ years experience as a Game Artist
  • Proven next gen character development experience
  • Shipped at least 1 game
  • Strong traditional drawing ability demonstrated in portfolio
  • Experience with 3DSMax and Z Brush
  • Excellent skills in modeling and texture mapping including diffuse, normal and specular maps
  • Additional skills in any of the following a plus: Animation, Rigging, Special FX or Physics
  • Self-starting and organized
  • Solid understanding of game creation limitations/dependencies
  • Excellent communication skills, verbal and written
  • Understanding of when to sacrifice quantity or quality to adhere to schedules and milestone deliveries
  • Ability and willingness to create games that do not follow traditional game-art styles.
  • A love of music and an openness to new music
  • BFA from accredited Art or Design college

  • List of games shipped, with details of your position and contribution
  • Website or CD/DVD with your work including Models, Maps, Etc. (website preferred)
