I have been working with Vue 6 32bit and max 8 32bit for some time I have been working with some semi complicated vehicles with many peaces. I also set up some basic bones and objects that were the joints of the legs and other parts that would bend and move invisible. Ok, my problem comes down to when I import a .vob file from max 8 with some animation for a test. Some of my characters peaces stay together (linked) and some others are separated, deformed and bunched up together into small little peaces. I was just wondering if there was a bug or something that I need to do or select when during transfer of the files that would help keep the vehicle in one peace and not deformed?
Semi complicated vehicle with many peaces problems transfering from max8 to vue?
hi Longbowan,
i personally, use craftanimations toolbox to import animated vehicles into Vue via the VOB plugin and everything works fine - you can check out examples of some animations on my website - http://www.sowl.com
send me a test file so I can test the vob export for you.
Thanks, I will try to send you the file its large though, maybe 25 mb I think. Nice role on the hill with the Hummer. craftanimations toolbox Is a little far out of my spending range
hi longbowan
I was able to open the file you sent me and successfully exported the plane model into Vue - however some pieces are floating around and one of the tail sections looked shorter than the other - probably what you were refering to as squashed.
my feeling is that you may have to rig the entire plane with a complete skeleton istead of having just a few of the pieces assigned with bones. You stand a better chance of them staying together because they will all be part of the same rig.
If you are choosing to rig just a few parts, then stick to wiring and linking instead of using bones.
so its not a bug, its just your rig has floating pieces.
Even with craft animations, if one piece of the rig is not exported together with the rest, the wheels collapse into each other.
The full rig keeps all the parts together.
Witch why would you find better? Boning it peace then skinning or just bone the hole thing and linking them together or link the parts together as is? I’ll guess i will try them all
Ah allot of work just to test the vehicle best to find out at the earlier stage of learning
