Selection Tool in Photoshop

So I am trying to get some practice in with skinning my models, but im having a bit of a problem. I am trying to just lay down a base color, but I cant find a good way to select. I am using the magic wand tool to select areas, but since the lines arent completely solid, it selects some of the line, and doesnt select other parts.

Thats the image I am using, so you can see the lines. Just curious if theres a good way to select the areas and what not.

try using the fill tool on a new layer. check the “all layers” option

Things to play with:

Duplicate the layer.
Use levels to pull the colours up bright and put some smackdown on some of the darkest colors.
Play with layer combinations. I had some luck with your image and “screen”.

You could also simply use the Lasso tool to select areas you want to work with.
