Yeah, I just had that drop through my substantial letterbox last week from the blessed Amazon.co.uk. It looks very good indeed.
Is it ‘Advanced Painter Techniques’? If so, Digital Image Magazine has a review of the book and its contents:
ooh thanks… his first book was the thing that really got me started on knowing what to do in Painter!
looks just like the thing I want to have…
Does anyone happen to know how much of it is based on Painter X specific features? I only have Painter IX.5.
I’ve only ever used Painter X therefore I don’t really know what IX.5 “lacks”. He mentions Painter X throughout but if you look at the website associated with the book, it has all the downloads and a table of contents which might give you a better idea of what is covered.

Honestly I dont think it matters too much about the version of painter. I own the book and I use X … the only warning i put out there and Mr. seegmiller expresses this also. IT is not a how to be an artist book. It focuses on techniques and some of them will take weeks/months/years to get to the level the book is at. but he uses a lot of features i never touched and now am practising my sketches with them. Very good book for traditionally trained artist launching into painter
Hi!
I am studying the book and i find it great. But, as Seegmiller tells, that book is for advanced users so thre is not too much information about the tools. I find that great, cos i find a waste of money to buy a supposedly advanced book where a quarter of it is elementary training.
However, as i am going forward i find a few things that i don’t know how to do. So, if here we are a few who are following the book, it could be great to create a thread about the book. I use to read a lot on the forum instead of writing, so it could be great for me to take part here more intesively.
Thanks!
as i was the one who started the thread i will add a little forewarning. As i moved one in the book I found a lot of techniques repeated and honestly not practicle. The real essence of what i am trying to say is sometimes drawing is better than short cuts. Mr Seegmiller may use these techique (or may not) but he is good at them. to just pick up and go expecially if you are already at a high maturity in your art may actually slow down your work flow… just be warned
