searching by comment field

Hey guys, I work as a 3d graphic artist at a small company and we’re running into a couple of problems. We have to convert old graphics into new graphics and in the new graphic’s comment field we put the old naming convention so we know what the original graphic was supposed to be. We need to be able to do a search by the comment field sometimes and it’s a real pain in the ass when you have 14,000+ images. Can anyone think of a way to do this with minimal coding?

Is it a standard bitmap format? Using a standard metadata field? You might be able to use one of the bitmap organizers like ACDSee (too bad it’s become such a huge chunk of bloatware).

There might be a newer way to do it with XML tags and then have the tags listed in a database. You could search through the 14,000+ records in about 5-10 sec depending on the sort algorithm and the speed of computer. However I’m not sure of any resources for it sorry.
