Hey Shay, hope you’re well and my God you’ve been a busy man! Your graphic design skills have always been strong but I definitely see progression in your painting. It’s nice to see all the hard work is paying off. Love those little thumbnail sketches, they convey a lot of dynamism and skill. I really can’t wait to see what you do with them, I get the feeling there are going to be some stunners among that lot!

all the best

NR43 - Thanks! The first (unseen) version I did define all of the anatomy but I realized that what I wanted was something more abstract. It is skin just very pale and semi-transparent. Really I just wanted the skin a mess and I was just trying to commmunicate the 3D forms. It still has a few errors in anatomy, but hopeful they arten’t enough to ruin the piece : )

Ishtar - haha yes, I love your wording ; ) I am not sure which version, but I did redo him towards the bottom with more of what you said. More regal, arrogant and powerful. It is a crazy undertaking so thanks for the support.

J-K - Thanks for the kind words. I have realized that what makes me a great designer is pure confidence. I never question composition, colors, balance, texture, etc. but when I paint I am all over the map. I feel like I need to question every decision. It will come with time and practice, but it is difficult for me because design was easy from day one.

Thanks for seeing the potential in this. I have a few favorites right now too and I hope I can do them justice. If only I had had your rendering skills and patience : )

anandpg - Thank you very much! I’m sure you didn’t see because I have been a slacker and haven’t updated it since august of 06 ; )

CgIcecube - Thanks - I am trying to push my flesh and emotion rendering a little further these days. I am really glad that you like the designs, though I had a sneaking suspicion (sp?) that you would ; ) I like the high preistess a lot as well… she seams very serene, which is a good thing.

Thanks again everyone for looking and the feedback. I will keep this updated as I progress.

Shay! This project looks really cool, congrats!

The overall thing I can recommend is just continuing that drawing practice! I’ve just posted a Tutorial / Exercise which I think you might find useful. I’ve been sitting in on a drawing class that’s been so refreshing because it’s reminding me of all the fundamentals I’ve forgotten how to verbalize. I really recommend trying it!
