Sculpting Class in San Francisco?

#1

I’ve been looking. I can’t find a sculpting class in San Francisco. I want to learn how to sculpt the human form. in small maquettes probably.

I’ve tried these with no luck:

  1. Douglas and Sturges calling and asking them
  2. city college
  3. the crucible
  4. SFSU extension
  5. craigslist

I just want to learn how to sculpt in clay or plasticine.
And I need to get away from my computer.

Anyone out there know of any classes in the bay area?

There seems to be a ten-week course at Gnomon called “Character Sculpture: Maquettes”.

Thanks Ekah,

I need on in the Bay Area though. I went to Gnomon and would go back in a second if there was one here in SF.

In any case, I FOUND ONE at the crucible:

the link to it was “hidden” behind euphemisms.

Have fun with that class  it’s good that there are a couple workshops around the bay for that. I am fairly sure there are a couple sculptors that used to teach at the academy of art that hold workshops towards Marin and Sausalito on the weekends, I’d have to go find their names in all my old stuff from the aau.
Otherwise, best guy in san francisco to learn how to sculpt the human form would be taking ecorche with Stephen Perkins. I know he registered ecorche.net and wants to start going bigger in his teachings (he currently teaches it at the academy) but if you find a way to contact him, maybe he can direct you to good ressources for it?

I dont know, just my 2 cents.

Oops, sorry DangerAhead. I somehow thought that Gnomon offered workshops in SF too.

Well, although you probably know these links, I figured it’s worth posting for others who may be interested.

http://www.stopmotionanimation.com/ A good site for industry professionals. Good forum on sculpting, clay, armatures, etc. Ton of industry related links.
http://www.polymerclaycentral.com/ Gaudy interface and probably not a great site for human sculpting or maquettes, but it’s got a ton of info on the polymer clay.
