An unheralded scientific initiative monitoring the health of what remains of a dying iconic marine eco-system. Something that’s near and dear for me personally having dived it’s surrounds back in the day as a young man. Oh…and appallingly the fact as I type may I say, barely raising a collective community eyebrow here at home is excruciatingly shameful as an Australian too admit.
The largest organism on earth clearly visible from space, along it’s entire 2500 mile length is facing extinction period. To put some saddening perspective on it almost 97% is already bleached (dead) beyond recovery and the most heinous political crime perpetrated on top of it all is that the Queensland State Government has sanctioned new coal mine projects to be brought online which paradoxically a power generating industry facing large infrastructure closures in the south eastern regions of the continent, my State of Victoria - F’ing madness if you ask me!
Or perhaps the latest car - home - clothes - or - whatever - the - fuck! consumable bears more relevance for most people these days rather than the exponentially fast paced vanishing natural habitat, unequivocally due to human activity.
