Scale by animated gradient ramp

hey guys,

I´m having trouble getting a seemingly trivial effect to work or rather to find any tutorials on it…

how do i scale particles based on a gradient ramp? preferably an animated one?

Should be pretty basic with data operators, but I can´t get through to the information I need in the manual…

To be more specific: I ahve a setup where I spawn particles via a birth texture, based on an animated gradient ram. But since the birth object is getting smaller towards the top, I want the particles that are spawned there to be smaller, based on another gradient ramp…
