very cool idea. The first photo was the base with some parts already added, right ? Is it part of an european airport ?
great work … Great integration of elements.

Hello guys!

First of all , very glad you like the image. I did try to do a very clean image , very detailed and believable.

@James:
Thank you for the kind words. It means a lot coming from you :). About the details: yes, it was all photoshop, mostly photomanip. I started with a base photo of the Milwaukee Art Museum, an amazing structure that inspired me . Extended the plate by painting a bit more to the right , removed the top part and everything behind it.

Then, I started working on the sail city concept. Took a sail from a small boat photo and played around with it, creating all the sails you see in the image. I painted the masts and integrated the sails with the existing structures. I then painted all the necessary relighting and when I was happy with the builidings, I stated adding the adds and holograms.

Because I was going for a real look, I got some tourist pictures and started adding alll the people to make it look alive and dynamic.

@Inlakechh : Yes, I started from the photo on the base, but it is the Milwaukee Art Museum.

And here is the base photo, belonging to http://flickr.com/photos/kesta/, a very good photographer who was nice enough to share his photos on flickr
