Run and jump

Hey guys!

Here’s something I’ve been working on since I realised I’ve never animated a run or a jump so why not stick the two together?

I’m happy with it but I’m sure there are parts that I could improve on that I can’t quite see at the moment. One thing I’ve already noticed is that I forgot to change the pose of the left foot at frame 25 so that will need fixing for sure. This is the first time I’ve ever used a tablet to animate in Maya too and it’s so much better! I’d really recommend it.

Looks good man, only thing I can say is play w/ the timing on the actual jump. As of now it seems to happen too fast. Right now it takes him 2 frames to get to the top and go to the bottom of your arc. So increase the amount of frames it takes him to do that (maybe 3 on the way up and 3 on the way down?) until it feels right.

I would agree with R1c00 and say give him more hang time. It kind of just pops from one spot to the next without a real arc.

A few other things:
1)Your feet pop on the extensions
2)You need more compression and follow through on the landing
3)You need more compressions on the low hits of each step as well as making those hits harder in the graph editor

Otherwise looking pretty good
