Hi guys. Maybe someone has got hands on experience with those in applications.
Right now people sell rtx 3090 for 1k euro almost new (half a year used), which is very reasonable. Except there is 4090 for double the price, and in some instances, double the speed.
I’m yet to find any meaningful review of both for 3d graphics.
I’ve read in some comments that 3090 performs very similarly in texturing apps, and I guess it mainly utilizes 24 gb of ram. At least in substance.
Judging from the amount of cores, 4090 is around 1/3 faster than 3090. It’s also newer, so a better support is possible.
1600 would be great, but anyway people pay around 2k for it. Maybe it’s just not the right time to buy.
Still I hesitate shelling out another grand in top, which equals 2k, plus you need a beefy power supply. Because I’m not sure if I pay premium for it being brand-new, or is it as goo choice for upcoming 5 years (though life became not that reliable here).
Maybe there are some specialized reviews with 3d applications you’ve seen?
I have rtx 3060 12 gb currently. It’s a decent card, but looking at 3090/4090 specs, they are 3 and 5 times faster on paper.
I could buy 3090 now, or save up for several months for 4090. The price is ridiculous for a gaming card, but I won’t use it for gaming.
I do mainly modeling and texturing nowadays, and occasionally some rendering/baking, which utilizes RT cores.
