Rigging tools for softimage 2010?

#1

Hey everyone, we are about to start setting up a kids TV show with softimage 2010 as our main tool. This show is going to need a large amount rigging in double quick time. So my question is, does anyone know of a good cartoon style rigging addon for softimage? Perferably something that spits out a synoptic or net view page to go along with the rig. The only one I’m aware of is the addon that ships with the automatic rigging DVD from 3D Quakers. But I’m hoping to find something a bit more advanced. Any ideas?

Not exactly what you’re looking for, I’m afraid,
but you might want to take a look at Helge Mathee’s
Template Based Rigging entry at xsi-blog.

3d Quakers Autorigging plugin is what you need. It’s beautiful, and perfect for squashy characters. It’s one or two clicks to make a great rig.

I found it messed up too much to be used in production.

The addon is not a production tool, but a prototype to compare you own script to when designing an autorigger.
Having said that, a lot of studios do use it in production, albeit some added customization, without any problems at all.

So, where is the autorig plugin? does it come with the training?

#7

yes, it comes with the training.

Nice, I’ve been looking for the right training and this could be it :o)

Have there been any revisions/improvements to the plugin since it had some issues in some people’s eyes? Is it 2010 compatible? (I assume so) Is the autorigger better/more sophisticated than the standard biped rig supplied with SI?

thanks
